OK...this has been stumping me for a long time. In every photo I see of Julius Caesar, he always has that Persian cat on his lap. Does anyone know it's name????

Actually, the quote is the unkindest "cut" of all, but I kid.

Gotta say, I've no earthly idea.

I'd suggest posting this question under "classical literature" instead of here in "cats." Perhaps that will direct you to a more specialized knowledge base.

I've never seen the picture, but it would probably involve Cleopatra. The Egyptians worshiped cats and had temples for them. Even though Cleopatra was actually Macedonian, they still held the cat in high esteem. Cleopatra and Caesar had a child together before she was with Marc Anthony. Couldn't find anything involving him either. If it was a Persian cat, it could be Alexander the Great.
