My husband and I have lived together for 14 months now and I can't get my cat to even like him. She runs out of the room when he enters. He has not done anything to hurt her - he is loud and I have worked with him on that but she seems to be getting more and more scared when he is around.

My cat has started to scratch the corner of my leather sofa (grrr) and in an effort to stop her I am thinking of applying Soft Paws - those claw cover things. Is it cruel though? I mean so they NEED to shed their claws???

This last week my cat has been scratching and licking himself more than usual. A couple of weeks ago I noticed a lil chunk of fur missing behind one of his years. And a couple of days ago I noticed a red spot just barley in his other ear from him scratching. And this morning I noticed a spot by his wiskers where hes been scratching so much that hes caused it to bleed and fur is missing around it.
He is about 7 years old, fixed and has his claws. He is also an indoor cat, however I will occasionally let him go outside on a leash and collar with me. We dont stay outside very long, the most is 30 min because of the cold. I recently took him to the vet last month for his rabies shot and they gave him a lukemia shot.
I am 31 weeks pregnant (this may or may not be relevant, but it might since animals can sense these things).

Could it be he just needs a bath to help get rid of his fur (from shedding) and dandruf

Okay, I have a eight month old cat, who loves to chew on plastic, paper and other items, that a cat should not normally eat. I take away the paper and firmly tell her no, but that doesn't seem to help the problem, I keep a clean house as well, so I know that she is digging in the garbage for the said items. Also it is starting to effect the nine year old cat, who is male in the house, to start digging in the trash. So please help, if you have any suggestions, that won't cause either of my cats to become stressed and to allow me to nip this bad habit in the bud.

I have a 9 month old cat that I got from the SPCA....for the past 5 months, he has had diarrhea everyday. Recently, he has had blood in his stool. I've been to three docters, and they couldn't find anything. He's currently eating a food with chicken, could it be a food allergie, and if it is what type of food could I feed. Could it be anything else? Thanks.

She's like 6 1/2 years old. She was fixed when she was about 3 months old. Every now and then, she gets super affectionate, not a full "heat," but almost like a "mini-heat" with her butt in the air and such. Could this be left over hormones because she was so tiny when she got fixed?

My cat cannot keep a water bowl full of water. When my roommate and I are out of the house, our dog and cat stay on the back porch so they dont run through the house and tear stuff up. We fill their bowls up everyday and my cat just plays in the water until it is all gone, so by the end of the day they are both thirsting to death! She doesnt knock the bowl over, she sits at the bowl and paws the water out, so a heavier bowl wont help. She just likes to splash it around. She does NOT do it for attention, she knows I will scold her for it. I have no idea how to get her to stop this. No matter how many bowls we use, she will empty them all. Its especially unfair to the pooch, who doesnt get to enjoy the water in any way. We tried the squirt bottle things like they have in pet stores but the dog would not use them so they didnt help. We also had the continuous flow water bottle also and we just end up with a flooded porch and an empty water bottle. How can I get her to not do this anymore?

I have purchased a dog house and have filled it with layers of fleece and a thick dog bed to for a stray cat that I have been feeding. I have also covered the doorway and protected it from the wind. Will that be sufficient to help keep the cat safe tonight with -6 temp and wind chill advisory of -15 degrees?
