This last week my cat has been scratching and licking himself more than usual. A couple of weeks ago I noticed a lil chunk of fur missing behind one of his years. And a couple of days ago I noticed a red spot just barley in his other ear from him scratching. And this morning I noticed a spot by his wiskers where hes been scratching so much that hes caused it to bleed and fur is missing around it.
He is about 7 years old, fixed and has his claws. He is also an indoor cat, however I will occasionally let him go outside on a leash and collar with me. We dont stay outside very long, the most is 30 min because of the cold. I recently took him to the vet last month for his rabies shot and they gave him a lukemia shot.
I am 31 weeks pregnant (this may or may not be relevant, but it might since animals can sense these things).

Could it be he just needs a bath to help get rid of his fur (from shedding) and dandruf

We haven't changed his diet any. Same brand of cat food, just change the flavors a lil bit. He has also gotten into a can of water tuna and ate that, within the last two months. He also suddenly has been not wanting to drink water from his bowl. But he will jump into the bath tub and wait for you to turn the water on and drink from the faucet.

allergys can cause it or mites witch are like fleas but are smaller harder to see and kill. take kitty to the vet as soon as possible and if it is any of those you can get medicated shampoo to help with infection and they have allergy tabs you can put in kitties food and if it is mites wash kitty with flee shampoo that says mites on it and the problem shuld clear

or it could be from stress if you are pregnant he might pick up on the stress you might be feeling. cats are atuned to those kinds of things, he knows sompting exciting is going on. so wash him cuttle him and pet him and it will help

Your cat may have fleas. You seem like you care for your pet a lot, so I would think you would have noticed them if he did have fleas, though they can be harder to see on dark colored cats. If you think it might be fleas, go ahead and give him a bath and use regular dish soap.. I found that it works better than most of the fleas shampoos I have tried. Now, this is going to sound like the reverse way to wash fleas off of your cat, but it'll help you to notice them if he is infested. Start at the back of his body and work slowly towards his head. The fleas will move there and since the fur is thinner, you should be able to see them if he has them. If you don't, check the bath water and look through his fur. They get slow and stupid and sometimes they do not move at all after you wash with dish soap. If he's got fleas, frontline will take care of them.
If you find that he doesn't have fleas, you may want to brush him down, remove the excess fur and see if his skin is dry. If so, check with your vet to see what is best to relieve it. If it is neither of these, you may want to consult your vet immediately, in case it is something more serious. Good luck to you and your furry friend!

Cold weather brings with it dry skin. Dry skin can cause itching, fur loss, and rashes. Go to your local pet store or vet and get some cream to relieve the discomfort and dryness. You may want to get a humidifier...

Hope he feels better.
