Actually she is a pretty smart cat. Canned is better for them, at least the vet tells me she see healthy cats that eat canned. Less overweight problems, less urinary tract problems. She recommends it the best way.

I presume she is getting dry food free feeding?

If so, then check the labels of the dry food and please don't buy any that says first, second or third ingredients, by-products.

Also, maybe the can food is not the best. Also, check for by-products, maybe Reeses is not getting very satisfying foods.

I would feed her every day. I have a very demanding kitty age 9 months and was very demanding at age 4 months old. He needs his wet food. I feed him two times a day. Sometimes I give him chicken or salmon. Seems if he is full he is happy. He is not overweight. Just like people some have high matabolisims and some not. Some need to eat more often and others not. So, as for animals.

Just feed her every day. Some cat's just can't live on dry food alone. So, just feed her every day and see what happens.

Actually canned cat food is not bad for cats. My vet told me it is good for them. Canned cat food contains more meat and protein which is what cats were bred to eat...they are carnivores. The dried food is full of carbohydrates, which is not necessarily great for them. At least that's what my vet said. The reason I know this is because my cat had gained 4 pounds in 6 months (on a dry food only diet) and I was told to restrict her to a wet food diet only, with occasional dry food pieces for healthy teeth. Anyway, I would just try and give her canned food everyday. My cat lost all the extra weight plus some and has the silkiest coat ever!!!

Canned food is good for cats if you are getting a premium brand from a pet store, with no by-products in it. It has extra water in it which is good for cats. I have to almost force my cat to eat her canned food. If you want to get a can to last 4 days, scoop out 1/4 of the can and add some water to it, warm it in the microwave for a few seconds. My cat only gets like a teaspoon a day because she only drinks the water in it and I have to throw out the food. So a can lasts her like a week. So if you feed only 1/4 of a can, you will have to feed dry food as well.

Canned food is good for your cat so let her have it. Please stay away from Friskies, Whiskas, Fancy Feast or Science Diet which all use by-product meat.

Canned foods with high quality human-grade meat protein include Natural Balance, Wellness, Lick Your Chops. Blue is not available to me and it is a good quality food. By Nature's Organic is also good as is Felidae. So that gives you a lot of choices to try with her. The NB and the Wellness are available in the small cans to find out which "flavor" she might prefer. Don't overdo the fishy varieties though - maybe once or twice a week at most.

She likes it.

We have trained our cat to come in around 5 pm every night based on serving him several teaspoons of canned food along with the dry.

He is a very healthy, shiny 9 year old. Vet considers him to be a very handsome fellow.

Try cutting it back to a few teaspoons.

You will both be happy.

Hi,

I tried only giving my cat dry food, but the vet told me to start giving her wet food as it's good for them.

I usually give her a couple of teaspoons of wet every morning, and then dry food for the rest of the day. On a dry food only diet, she gained weight, but now she's lost it with the wet/dry food combination.

I really like those IAMS pouches, they're very healthy for cats (a bit more expensive, but I only give a little bit each morning).

You should give her food everyday (it would be SAD if you don`t at least 1/5 of a can if she`s fat or 1/2) if she doesn`t like her cat food buy her other food if she doesn`t like canned food buy her like dry food.I had a cat since 2004 and I know how to take care of her so I know A LOT about cats.

Actually cats are carnivores, so canned food in general is good for them. Most dry cat foods have more carbohydrates in them rather than protein. Cats require more protein than carbohydrates. So feeding a canned food is not "bad" for your cat. I feed my cats 1/2 can in the morning and 1/2 can at night with the dry Proplan cat food (dry Proplan cat food has more protein in it). So talk to your vet and see what they recommend. Some vets will tell you that canned food is bad for your cats teeth, but regular teeth cleanings help prevent this problem. Good luck. (ps ignore Dr. Universe he is a moron)

it is healthy for her, we feed our cats can food twice a day, and they're as healthy as they get,if your really concerned you can try buying a low fat, high nutrition cat food, and test it out ot see if they like it. There are also foods that resemble and taste like canned food, but arne't, those might be good too. Also you can try mixing a little bit of canned food, with some dry food, so she can still get the taste and be satisfied.

trust me, i know what im talking about...i have 7 cats

good luck

ciao

You've created a monster! So give her half a can every day and also give her the dry food every day. That may solve your problem. You can store 1/2 cans in the fridge, they make lids for the cans to keep the stink away from foods in your fridge.
