I have never heard of this until recently...of course it's $250/cat (anethsesia, mostly) which I don't mind paying if it's needed, but it's going to be $1000 for all four of them. Will this cause problems if I don't do it? How often does it need to be done? Are there things I can do that will help their teeth, other than dry cat food?

i have a tabby cat and he weighs about 20 or 21 pounds. we wanna make him weigh at least 16-14 pounds or somthin. he hardly plays bc he doesnt have anyone to play with since i am at school the whole day and everyone else is at work. i play with him wen i get bak from school sometimes like at 3 or 3:30 but its not for long bc sometimes he just doesnt wanna play anymore. i want him to be more active. he also eats alot altho we've been cutting down how much food we give him and we're gonna buy him diet food next week. but i also want him to be more active so wat can i do to get him play more by himself during the day while no one is home?? or to make him lose some weight at least. thnx!!!!

i picked my cat up from a friend when he was 2 months old. we have been having problems with him for he likes to attack and bite my sister and me. escpecially around the leg, calf and ankle. we have sterilized him as we heard that it would help..it is difficult to use water sprays as he randomly bites any time..i have to carry the water spray wherever i go..
Also, he doesnt like to be carried or to be put on my lap. he never comes up to my lap on his own accord. why is this so?..it seems that other cats does it.

Okay, I'm in China, and my host family has a male cat. When I came, he started spraying everywhere, at least once a day, often on my bed, or in my room. I thought that it was just because I was a new person in his life, and smelled like about 5 other cats. However, it has been almost 4 months now, and he stil keeps at it. I suggested to my mother having him neutered but she said no cats in China are, and that's just barbarious.

Another problem, I think also related to his spraying, is that he masturbates all the time. He has this stuffed dolphin that he carries around, and I think he does this about twice a day. Before I came, I don't think my family knew what it was, but now they want him to stop, and he gets really mad if disturbed in any way. Also, if he can't find his dolphin, he tries to use someone's arm or leg, and literally attacks the person, biting and hisses, so that they have to find his dolphin.

Is there anyway to prevent this behavior other than neutering?

My kitten who is around 8 months and is about 10lbs seem so small compared to his dad. Is my kitten still growing or what? His birth family says his twin who was the smallest at first is now the biggest one. My kitten's daddy is freaking huge what is it with my kitten? I mean won't he be as big or almost as big as his daddy?

It broke off somehow, and there is only a bit of it left showing through her gumline. She still eats and plays, and everything else.
But what I want to know is can I do anything for her that doesn't require me taking her to a vet? Perhaps a pain reliever of some sort? I'm open even to good ol natural medicine, i dunno. Anything.
I feel bad for her, even though she doesn't seem to be in a lot of pain really, i just want to avoid it becoming worse. :(

I have a female (spayed) cat that is 1.5 years old. She's always been high maintainence; she hisses a lot, but then the next minute will be purring and happy. If you touch her when she's in a bad mood, or even wake her up sometimes, she'll slash or bite you. She hates everyone except me and my boyfriend. I know this all sounds like normal cat behavior, but lately she's been more ill-tempered than usual.

She must be sedated before going to the vet, and even then it's difficult for him to examine her. He can just give her the shots and that's about all she will tolerate. She hisses and scratches and goes out of control. I hope she never gets very sick because this will be a problem.

We just got a new kitten, and they get along okay, but sometimes I think big kitty is a little too rough.

She has NEVER been abused or mistreated. She can be a sweetheart when she wants, and behaves well otherwise.

Is there anything we can do to improve her disposition and make her nicer?

I was looking at cats up for adoption today and really liked one in particular.

Her sheet said she was two years old but to me she looked more mature than that.

I was wondering if anyone knew anything about how they pin the ages on these cats and how accurate it is. Most were listed at around two years old. I'm afraid it's like the default age they just pin onto the healthy looking animals.

Also, I went to the shelter very early in the morning so many of the cats were just waking up. Big yawns all around. Many were missing teeth, a fair amount of them. And their ages were also pinned at around one year to three years old. Should I be concerned about health issues? I've never had a cat that young have problems with their teeth.

I have a very fussy exotic cat, I want to show in the next couple of months, what are some supplements I can give him for him to be in top condition on the show day? he is a very fussy eater, and only eats about a teaspoon at a time and is a 6kg cat. Does anyone have any tips on preparing his coat and cleaning his eyes for the big day?

my cat is called a highland lynx and i know this sounds horrible wanting to put a shock collar on a cat but hes 12 pounds all muscle,
and hes very very friendly and just plain goofy,
hes not aggressive hes just playful with my other cat bella ( just a domestic short hair ) she weighs 4 pounds and is 2 years old
( the highland lynx is 7 months old and his name is jack)

but when he plays with bella he does not mean to but he hurts her so is there a shock collar for cats or can i just set it low and use a small dogs i do not want to nor will i give up either of them willingly and i dont wanna keep them separate already tried it didn't work he just got more playful.
and i dont want something automatic i want a remote for it so i can shock him when hes bad , i know it sound cruel but im worried its my only option

Someone I know told me that they don't even clean the litter box in there home for weeks because they say it's too dirty and no one wants to do it. Isn't that abuse of animals?
