There are a few out there. The cheapest is Arm & Hammer Carpet Powder or just regular Arm and Hammer, leave it on the carpet for about an hour, then vacuum. Borax works well and it's cheap. There is also an earth friendly product that comes in all types and can be used, indoors and out. Petco is the only place I know where they sell it, it's a bit pricey but it works great. It's called Earth Care.

To stop her from doing this, first have her checked out and make sure that she does not have a bladder infection. If she is fine, then it's all just behaviour modification. Cats are smart and stubborn, I had a cat that used to like to poo out side of her litter box, then get in and act like she's covering it...lol She wasn't blind either.

It took me about two weeks of working diligently but what I had to do is make her come in contact with her waste, not in a traumatic manner, just enough so that she knows what it is. Then move her to the kitty litter or outside right after. If that is too hard to do. The more radical way is to actually put her in one room with her kitty litter box for about a week. Don't leave her alone in there, play with her and feed her, do as normal but that will leave her no choice but to use it. If you catch her using a kitty litter, you can also use positive reinforcement.

We've had lots of cats in out family and all of these methods work, you just have to be more stubborn than the cat.

The best cleaner for removing odor is an enzyme based cleaner. Let it sit on the spot. Then blot it up. It may take several times to get the smell out.

Have the vet check the cat for a bladder infection or hormone imbalance. There is a reason for the behavior. It may be difficult to figure out, but there is a reason.

"SHOW" her the litter box. And reward her for doing so.
As far as the pet stains and odors go, use Woolite OXY Deep (you can get this at PetSmart, WalMart, Walgreens or most other common places). It's SAFE FOR PETS AND SMALL CHILDREN and if used as directed can VANISH any carpet stains and eliminate odors in the process.
ArmAndHammer Pet Deotirizer is a great product too. (But it's best for litter boxes, not on carpets)

Baking soda! It's a miracle worker. And it's cheap. Those powder things you can buy and shake on your carpet work really well too. Also, resolve carpet clearner (more for stains than smell) is awesome.

Take a bottle of hydrogen peroxide, add up to 6 drops of dawn liquid dish washing detergent, mix well and apply to area.
Please try in an inconspicuous area first. I used this when I raised puppies. The dawn leaves a fresh scent while the peroxide removes the smell of urine.

vinegar helps to get rid of the chemicals that make the cat keep coming back to the same spot over and over. What they can smell that keeps them coming back is different from what we can smell. No matter how much Febreze and Oust and other stuff you use, while YOU might not be able to smell the spot, they still will, and you'll soon have another spot to clean!

Best of luck!

We use windex to clean it up and a de-odorizer called "O". It cleans up the stain and takes out the smell immediately.
