Some cats simply do NOT like to be held or cuddled. My male Turkish Angora does not, and my sons female calico does not. Personally, I think it's a vanity thing. Notice, every time you pick her up and try to hold or cuddle her, just as soon as she can get away, you'll see her cleaning herself--AGAIN! Get used to it. All cats have their own personalities and there's no way you can change them. If you really want a kitty to cuddle with, you might consider getting her a kitten companion, and I would highly suggest a grey tiger-stripped tabby--they are exceptionally lovable, affectionate, and will lay in your lap all day. Unfortunately, I am allergic to these marvelous cats. If I weren't, I would have nothing but these. The orange tabby's are also a good choice. So, I'd suggest that you keep the one you have for her beauty, and get her a friend who will cuddle with you. Hope this will help.

There are many reason as to why she doesn't want to sit in your lap. I have 2 cats. One (the 3yr old) does not sit in my lap, unless my fiance is not around. I have had the cat longer than the fiance has been around.... so....the point of this story is that cats choose who their owner is.. not the way we all think. The best thing to do is go to a shelter or where you want to go to find a cat.. and play with/hold them all... to find the one who likes you best. I did this same thing and now my fiance has "his" cat and I have "my" cat.
Also, consider that maybe your laundry soap, body wash, or even your hair products may be too strong for your little kitty to handle. Her sense of smell is very sensitive and cant handle strong scents; even though the scents may smell great to you......it may not be so great for kitty.
Suggestion: change to a less scented soap for one load, wear those clothes around kitty, and go without perfume for one day.. (a day off of work if you want) and see how she reacts.
Good luck!

Nothing. All cats are different. Mine is like yours. The best you can hope for is to have it come to you. If you really want a cat that will cuddle, get rid of the one you have now and spend some time with a new candidate to make sure that it will cuddle. Then take it home and the problem is solved.

Just leave her be. If she wants a cuddle she will come to you. The more u force her the less likely she will want to
Of the three cats here, one is hightly independent, one follows when you go to bathroom and smooches feet and the other likes to sleep on my shoulder.
They all have different personalities as do all animals and people

Some cats are not the lap type. I have a Siamese cat who wont sit in a lap, Unless SHE wants to. When your cat happens to jump into your lap, try scratching lightly right above her tail.. they love it !! She will begin to visit you more to get the massage.

Put kitty treats in your lap, and pet Kitty while she eats them. She'll get used to it soon enough.
