Someone I know told me that they don't even clean the litter box in there home for weeks because they say it's too dirty and no one wants to do it. Isn't that abuse of animals?

Yes I pretty much know they live like pigs there. This friend of mine is frustrated with that too but has no control over it. Can I make an anonomous call to animal control. I mostly feel sorry for the cats. I hear that they pee all over the house since the litter box is not clean. And yes children live there and it's not healthy.

In response to the last message yes they do feed the cats but sometimes they run out of food and they don't know it until the cats start complaining about it. Or pretty much meow because they have no food.

And too add I just feel sick about it. I can't believe how they treat there animals. I have two cats and I clean there litter box every day. Then these people try to say they have bad cats because they don't always go in the litter box. It's like helloooo duh cat's don't like to go in an extremely dirty litter box.

that is disgusting. if they can't take propper care of their cat's then i wonder how responsible they are at taking care of the children....i mean, besides letting them play amongst cat urine!

call animal control and then call child services!

I say it's abuse. It kind of makes wonder what kind of house they themselves live in. I would call the local humane society on them for abuse. A cat's litter box should be cleaned daily or if your truly lazy like myself invest in a littermaid. Heck you can get used ones on EBay for like $40.

The only thing that is bad about it is that if you do report it I think child services might have a thing or two to say about the way they live. But the children might be better off. Because look at what they are learning from the parents. I think that is no way to treat an animal. I'd just swallow my pride and report them.

I think you should talk to the head of the household there first. Perhaps they have a hectic, busy life and do not even realize that they are committing an act of animal abuse. Perhaps if they are confronted and it is explained that the box/boxes need to be changed at least every other day, or to use a scooper, they will make the effort. Sometimes, people do not realize they are doing something cruel. I hope they clean them up.

Yeeeuck.

Yes--that is considered abuse. It is neglectful and downright disgusting. If someone is not willing to take proper care of an animal then they should not own one.

If you want to do something about it, offer to find a good home for the cat(s). Or contact your local ASPCA. Or contact your local shelter and tell them the situation, they might be able to direct you to someone who can help.

I'm glad you are concerned enough to not just ignore this information!

added: You can also contact Child Protective Services, since there are children involved. I believe you can contact them or your local animal control anonymously.

Yes, a form of it. Pretty soon the cats won't use the boxes at all and defecate and urinate on their floors. They should be ashamed. The athorities, unfortunatly probably won't consider it abuse legally unless they don't feed the cats. If there is an attempt to feed in many states it is not considered abuse. I feel they are horrible however.

You might be able to call the Public Health Nurse at your local county/city offices. You can ask your question there, state what you know, your concerns, and ask for advice. It is hard to do, but you seem to feel strongly about this. Possible the home is "depressed" and needs more help than you can offer.

Yes it`s abuse and If there`s children in the house it`s very dangerous because cat urine is almost like ammonia when it`s concentrated so breathing it is dangerous. You really should tell it would be better for their health.
