His birth family says his twin who was the smallest at first is now the biggest one. My kitten's daddy is freaking huge what is it with my kitten? I mean won't he be as big or almost as big as his daddy?

Hi Courtney...like humans sometimes we inherit genes that are pre-determined whether we will be taller or shorter, heavier, thinner than our siblings and our parents and if we will look anything like them or...another distant relative such as an uncle, aunt or grandparents. Cats (all animals for all purposes) are the very same. They will either inherit genes from the parents or grandparents which determines their relative size. A sibling may look like the parents but another looks totally unrelated.

Depending on the breed background as well...10 pounds can be considered a very healthy weight so long as the ribs are not very visible through the coat. Your cat also is still growing. Most cats don't stop growing until they reach about 18 months some a little sooner at 12 months...again, it depends on the breed background.

I would take you kitten to the vets. My vet gave me some nutritional supplements to give to my kitten to help her grow and be healthy. She is 4 months and 2 weeks old (as of today 12/16) and she weighs about 4lbs. She is female and she is still so tiny! So possibly some kittens may stay smaller. My moms cat is smaller compared to my other cat. Kittens will be all different sizes. But call up your vet and ask for some nutritional stuff for your kitten. It should help! :)

10lbs is pretty normal. Mine were both around that size at 8 - 12 months, and one is huge now. Actually, 10lbs is quite big for an 8-month-old.

Cats usually keep growing for a year, and even after that they continue to fill out a bit.

My cat is only 8lbs and a year and a half my vet said she's perfectly healthy . My male was about 9lbs at 8 months .. give him time cats don't reach full maturity until about 3 years. Also you didn't say if he was neutered or not which can stunt growth a little especially if you're dealing with a breed that is large like a maine coon.

the kitten may grow as big as his father, but then again he may not. he isn't malnurished...i have a 1yr old cat that is perfectly healthy and weighs about 6lbs. i also have another cat who weighs almost 20lbs. he may have had a small mother cat or may have small cat genes in him from some other member of his family. i have two kittens that were from the same litter and one is very small and the other is very large. both their parents were big, but the one cat just didn't get big. she eats all the time and so does her sister, but for some reason she is small.

My baby was teeny when I got him, and at 1 year he looked like an average cat. By 2 years, he was frickin HUGE! Now he's 20 lbs.

What are you feeding him? They grow best when they are fed a kitten formula for the first year.

A 10 lb. kitty is pretty healthy I think!!. I had a kitty (she just recently passed away at the age of 17) who only weighed 5 lbs. She was always very tiny, just a petite little lady, but she was always healthy and died of old age! You really don't want your kitty to be a huge obese cat!! I personally like the tiny, petite kitties.

First. that's the runt and you ought to observe him to ascertain he's feeding and transforming into as plenty because of the fact the others. once you weigh them, watch to ascertain he's transforming into. you ought to to supplement him with slightly Kitten Milk alternative or canned goat's milk. once you're taking them in for their early kitten examination, have the Vet look at him intently. 2d. As long as your cat is healthy, I think he should be alright. I have a kitten that is very healthy and she is just a small cat, I do not know what her parents looked like but she is a small breed and is 6 months old and only 2 pounds but is so healthy and active. As long as your kitty is healthy... I think you should be alright.

Yes deffinately it is still growing. It is 10 lb right? Then there is nothing to worry about. He might or might not grow as big as his daddy. You'll just have to watch and see what happens.
