Cats - December 2006

I have a cat at home - he's about 6 years old (I'm at college) and he's been exhibiting some strange symptoms. For one, he's lost about a pound and a half, but he still seems to have a good appetite. Another thing, we just brought him back from my Dad's house to live with us (and two other cats). And we noticed that he's been spraying on clothes left out in the bathroom. The litter boxes are kept clean, but this doesn't seem to help and our veterinarian has taken blood tests for kidney and thyroid problems - both came back negative. His urine tested positive for microscopic blood, but she does not think this is the cause. I don't know if this could be realated to fleas or ticks- both him and his brother were given medicine to take care of it before we brought them home. Serious answers please! I need to find out what's wrong ASAP!!!

This cat is 6mo old. I found this cat.( when she was 3 or 4 weeks old) She was recently spayed (3 weeks ago) She has all shots and current checkup. This problem was suddenly noticed and not a slowly growing problem. The other eye is in perfect condition. I washed the eye out with saline solution and noticed bleeding from some of the blood vessles on the surface of the eye.

My cat, Mandy just jumped up on the stool beside me without disturbing the two beerbottles or the ashtray....that didn't leave her much room. Now she's sitting on my lap looking for attention.

Recently, I rushed my cat to an emergency vet . After conducting several tests, they determined that my cat had a growth in her bladder (it was either a blood clot or a tumor). My cat received IV fluids. In the end, it was concluded that I would be able to take my cat home and give her medication on a daily basis for what they hoped was a blood clot. So, I took her home. It's been about 5 days now and my cat has been acting depressed. She won't eat, drinks great amounts of water, is lethargic, and won't clean herself. When she drinks water, she paws at it first and then leaves her paw inside and stands motionless, something she's never done before. She also hasn't used her litterbox in some time. I'm wondering if the IV has anything to do with her behavior (I researched other sources and found that IV tends to cause disorientation and listlessness in cats), but I'm worried that she was traumatized by her visit (she hasn't been to the vet in 4 years since she's an indoor cat). Help?

My mom thinks that she might be. She is about 7 years old and is the "queen" of our house. When we had the bowl when you need to keep filling it up she would eat alot really fast then puke it up sometimes it the dish while eating. I think she started this when we got my other Cat a few years ago. Now that we have the Food dispencer she still does this but not as often. Does she have a problem?? Sometimes it looks like she is making herself puke. Should we bring her to the vet??

Last year, my cat climbed up my fake tree. He LOVED hiding in it. Will my real tree this year make him act like a "nature cat"?

Why did she do this on the table? She never usually goes up there.
Will she be ok?
And yes I did clean it up!

I recently had to put down my 8 month old kitten who i had since she was 3 weeks, my 8 month old male and 14 month old female were very close to her and always cared for her. Now that she has gone to kitty heaven my 2 cats just aren't the same, they wont eat and when they do its a few mouth fulls. They wont play with any of their toys and my 14 month old female is constantly looking around for her and meowing. Im worried they will stop eating altogether.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to help through the process of lossing their sister?

We have had this cat awhile. Somebody declawed it front and back, then kicked him to the curb.

My Dad has him living indoor/outdoor, cause he just really believes in all cats living this way.

The cat seems healthy. Up to date on shots, and just now due for a vet appointment. I do suspect ear mites sometimes, but we can wait and see till we finally get a stool, no indoor litter box!

Just saw on Yahoo answers that a cat with that no claw problem can get back problems. It does look like he has them, he is a little up and down looking sometimes, like a horse.

I would like to help with his back and the health of his paw pads outside. Any ideas. I know they get cold sometimes.

The worms were slender, and about 1/2 centimeter long. They were crawling on him in his fur and they were all over his blanket.

I adopted a new kitten today. When I adopted him the woman at the shelter told me that he will need to have food out 24/7 or he may become hyperglycemic. Is this true? I feed my other two cats and dog twice daily.

I have a six-year-old male cat who lived his early life outside (fed by various people) until caught and tamed. He has been very happy and active indoors in my small apartment for the last three months. I feed him Hill's Science Diet and a very occasional Fancy Feast Medley and have never, since I've owned him, had problems with him throwing up his food; neither have I noticed worms. But a few days ago, he lost his appetite and began to throw up food. He seems very fatigued, won't run around or play with his toys, and won't watch squirrels from his window. He just sits around and sleeps with me. I'm very worried and plan to take him to the vet next week but don't understand how he could have contracted an illness when he never goes outside. Could it be something more serious (cancer)? Any thoughts are appreciated.

i have had my kitten for 3 months now and at first i thought he was just playful but has recentley started to bite and draw blood, he will attack me for no apparent reason and will be lay down as if going to sleep then start to bite. he isn't nervous around people and has lots of toys, he eats well and always has food, water and his litter tray within reach. he isn't left alone for a great deal of time. i am worried that he could be part feral and this behaviour will not settle down. is there any way i can find out?
