The best tree for indoor cats has lots of unbreakable ornaments that are tied on with pretty ribbons, so that they don't get hurt on broken glass or nasty wire hooks. Those trees are also securely anchored to walls and/or ceiling, to prevent tree from falling over and dumping the cat onto the floor. They are not sprayed with stuff to make them look like they are frosted with snow. The lights are always unplugged when humans are not in attendance to prevent the risk of electrocution.

Other than that, pick your tree.

Avoid tinsel or garland as the cat may decide to eat it and can cause major problems. Also, I bought a pre-lit artificial tree and have discovered that the electrical cords are somewhat loose and my kitten has gotten caught several times. Thankfully she was just an inch or two off the ground and it didnt really hurt her. Make sure your cat cant get caught up in the cords and get strangled.

A real tree will be just too tempting for your kittens! My kitten's 1st real Christmas tree drove him crazy! He climbed in it, slept in it , played with every ornament - it was a semi disaster. The next year we opted for an artificial tree . It worked out much better , however our cat still felt the need to be up in his tree!

Hi Deana...in addition to lovemycats0 suggestions a fake tree would be better because real pine trees are more dangerous. Pine needles can puncture internal organs if eaten as they are also considered toxic to cats. More about how to kitty-proof Christmas trees for cats: http://www.cat-world.com.au/XmasSafety.htm

keep your cat's out of the tree but if you are afraid that there are going in the tree take than a big and heavy one so it don't fall over and don't put anything inside the tree that breakable like Glass figures ans thing's like that but you can also go to a pet shop and ask for a product that you spray on the tree so that your cat's will loose his interest in it

Here is a harmless way to keep your cat out of your tree....get a squirt gun, fill it with water and any time your cat goes near the tree just squirt it. Worked for mine. And it didn't take long for him to learn that lesson.

As long as they are just trying to climb it and not eat it they should be fine. But I do suggest checking it and making sure there is no free sap anywhere on it. It's not harmful just will make them filthy.
