I'm traveling on a plane (in-cabin) with kitty for the 1st time.. and her carrier is an inch higher than the airline specs. Is this OK? I don't want to spend another $70 on a new carrier. It's one of those fabric ones, and since she sleeps on top of it sometimes, it's decreased in size. The carrier has to be placed under the seat in front of me, but I think there will be enough room. I want to be sure so I can avoid any problems. Tell me from your own experience???

I rehomed a 12 yr old cat who had been stray 6 weeks ago. He rarely ventures out as now enjoys the warmth, food and attention he gets after living on the streets! We've really bonded but last night he went out and hasn't come back! I'm really worried about him as he is old, new to the area, and not very well the moment. I can only assume he is lost. Do cats actually get lost and does anyone have some tips on how I can find him? I fear the longer he is gone the less chance he'll find home again. I've been out looking and calling his name but wonder just how far away he could have got! Advice appreciated.

My cat appears to have been in a cat fight last night. He is quite lethergic & the side of his face is a little swollen w/ a small cut. He eats when I take him ffod but will not get up & move about otherwise.

My friend has two cats. When he is around he gives them some meals of canned food and some meals of dry food. For a test run, he bought an automatic feeder and had it give them dry food only for a day or two. Seemed to work OK. Then he was gone for a night or two and when he came back the cats had diarrhea. What is the likely cause? Do you think the problem is that they are getting only the dry food and no canned? Or do you think they are eating too much food? Or are they just stressed because he was gone?

I took her to the vet a while back and he said she had hay fever. He gave me Malotic to apply to her neck and that cured it for awhile but now she's re-opened the raw spot. Any suggestions?

Please read my other posts because a thousand words is not enough to ask the question and explain. I have 4 indoor cats and the one has the earmites and is lethargic, the other one has been sleeping a lot more than usual. They both are sleeping way more than usual and are not themselves. I had Melvin's ears flushed on Friday and he still hates to have his ears or head touched today. Please read post number 3 about the vet advice that I received today. Yes, cats do sleep a lot, but it is not normal for these 2 cats in particular. They are buddies, could the younger one ( oliver) be depressed because the older cat with the mites is not feeling well?

How do I do a follow up to a past question that I asked without having to type the entire thing again in a new question? There are not enough words to explain the first time, let alone explanations in response to suggestions on here.

Thanks much

This post is the third in a series involving Melvin and Oliver. I called the vet this morning that diagnosed earmites only in Melvin. I told them that both cats were still sleeping a lot and that I wanted to bring them in. The vet was on an emergency call and I was told that I could bring them in and they would try to observe them over 2 or 3 days. If I take them in, I want them to be looked at while I am there and/or tested for such things as Fe. Leukemia or FIV. There are only 2 people in the office on a regular basis....the recep. is always busy, in fact probably too busy to phone me to tell me when the vet returns to the office from the emer. call. I can observe the cats at home for free! Oliver is a little perkier today, Melvin is about the same. He is still not liking his forehead touched and is still shaking his ears. if I had bugs in my head, I may lay around a lot too. I go back and forth with the worry. Another vet suggested the tests that i mentioned. Thoughts?

For example:
1) When I was at uni., a new student wanted a room in our communal house. Before he moved in, his Siamese cat moved in first, even though the cat hadn't been shown the house before.
2) I was moving house myself, 7 years ago. Not far. I led most of my cats to the new place before I moved in, but Persian Jenda never came. Then once the t.v. had been moved, I was watching a video alone and heard meowing. Jenda was at my door. I'd cycled there and she never went for long walks ....
3) I feed a lot of strays in this area at night, but am always careful to feed them far away from my house. Yet everyone of them knows where I live.
4) After a death of a beloved pet cat, word gets out and strays move in on me to fill the vacancy ...
Just some examples; I'd like to hear your stories too, and why you think cats can do this!

Scent? Network communication? What is it that keeps them so informed?
Not talking about recognising sounds of cars and voices from miles away.
Thanks

Thanks for all your replies so far - very helpful. I have spoken to my boyfriend about spraying him with catnip and he is keen to try it! It won't make Archie go for him though will it???
And just to clarify things to 2 of you - the boyfriend has a very good job and has the pleasure of being allowed to work from home most of the time!!!!
