Thanks for all your replies so far - very helpful. I have spoken to my boyfriend about spraying him with catnip and he is keen to try it! It won't make Archie go for him though will it???
And just to clarify things to 2 of you - the boyfriend has a very good job and has the pleasure of being allowed to work from home most of the time!!!!

Hey- we have a kitty called Archie too! We have spray catnip and it doesn't make him go as wild as the 'real ' stuff, he just goes over to see what it's all about- prob ideal for getting him closer to your bf!

It just might not be in the cards. Some times cats don't like certain people. I can't explain it and asking the cat won't help ether. Getting the cat stoned on catnip is not the way to go. When my wife had to integrate a dog with her cat, she locked them both in a room for a day and they figured out that the cat was the boss..
It is possible that the cat is jealous of the time and attention you are giving your boyfriend...are you spending less time with your cat or are you away from your home more than you used to be?
Has your cat started to do "bad things" e.g. going to the bathroom in the wrong place, like his shoes? Cats can be vengeful! Perhaps your cat has a favourite treat to eat. Maybe only your boyfriend could hand feed these treats to your cat so your cat could get used to going to him for attention too.

Have your boyfriend feed the cat. Cats take to the person that feeds them first.

The catnip is a good idea, also have your boyfriend try to play with the cat with cat toys.

your cat may not like your boyfriend--sprayed with catnip or not. Cats are very territorial and maybe your cat doesnt want to share you. Also if your boyfriend doesnt like cats; the cat will pick up on this ASAP

No offense to your boyfriend and this may sound a little, well "Looney Toons" but cats are very intuitive. Maybe kitty is picking up on something that is still flying too far below your radar and you just havent picked up on it yet. As I said no offense and I really do wish you both all the happiness, but someone needed to say it. LOL

My kitty doesn't like my husband, the only person she has ever came in contact with that she doesn't like. But my feelings on this situation is, you can't force the cat on him, let her come around on her own leisure, let her decided when she wants to check him out. Tell him to speak to her softly ever now and again and let him offer her up treats or soft cat food. She'll come around and start to feel safe around him. It's just going to take some time. Good luck.

try having him give the cat tuna a few times a week, but just a little bit (don't want the cat to get sick) the old saying is very true, once you feed a cat, you can't get rid of it. cat may end up liking your man better than you. good luck

Ooo ooo! I know I know pick me!
h'ok so what you do is buy some industrial strength duct-tape and then you tape your cat to your boyfriend.(anywhere you choose I however advice you against taping the cat to the crotchal region).....(unless you don't actually like your boyfriend and then by all means feel free) Anywho this will work great trust me after a prolonged period of being stuck together they're bound to end up liking each other.
