Change your cat's litter more often,(maybe change their diet to something to help with the odor).Frebreze the room. Arm and hammer has deodorizer for the litter box.........

I think your asking,
"how do you get rid of a cat that smells",
wash it of course. There are shampoos for animals you can buy that does not use water. If you have cat pee in the area, you'll need more than air fresheners to delete the smell. A good cleaning of clorox and hot soapy water. And a good carpet cleaner.

Get a cat litter box with a scoop and use "Fresh Step" cat littter, and you will have no odors at all.

But in the meantime, there is an oxygen based spray cleaner that destroys odors on contact.

If you are training your cat, put a newspaper down where your cat usually pottys, and keep moving the newspaper closer to the litter box, and try picking up your cat and placing the cat in the box, and they catch on quick.

How do you get rid of bad cat smell?
If it's a male and he's spraying everywhere to "mark his territory" you need to take him to the vet and get him neutered. It's less expensive than spaying female cats, but it will take time to heal, it is surgery. I would recommend pain killers for him and give him time.
He'll probably lose weight, but will be himself again, hopefully without the spraying.
As for the odor he has already made, shampoo the carpet. A perfect time to do that is while he is at the vet.
Good Luck.

if you mean your cat is messing where it shouldn't then you need to clean the area with non bio washing powder, this takes away the stains and the odour.

Start by getting rid of the cat. Then replace your carpets and padding. If that still doesn't work, then you may have to paint or rewallpaper. Air Fresheners will do very little. Fabreeze or cleaning with vinegar will do you better.

well male cats usually stink. if he is a male cat all you can do is get rid of him. if its a female then you should go get it groomed once a month clean its litterbox daily and watch what you feed her and maybe the cat is peeing everywhere like my cat keeps to continue to do. no airfresher will work. only dicipline on your cat
