Get rid of the cat.

We broke our cat from pawing at the blinds on the door to the back porch by using a high frequency sound emitter. Every time she pawed at the blinds, we would press the button for just a fraction of a second and she would run to another room. After just four of five times, she no longer paws at the blinds. If she wants to go on the porch, she sits patiently at the door until someone lets her out. I am sure it would work just as well to keep your cat out of a particular room. You can buy these at any number of stores and catalogs. Normally, they are sold as a repellent to keep dogs away for joggers, etc.

Cats are funny like that. Because you dont want the cat going in that room he will predictably do nothing but go in that room. My grandma bought my cousin a cheap screen door to put up to keep her cats out of the nursery. Just a simple wood frame one. You are not going to keep the cat out. Spraying with water, putting down tin foil or newspaper, none of these things will work. Cats dont train like dogs. Better start door shopping.....

Go to a good pet store and look for a pet repellent spray. You can use it sometimes to keep cats and dogs from jumping up on furniture, etc, but I'm told that it doesn't always work with all animals. Some people with a good sense of smell can also smell the stuff - my wife hates it. I can get a whiff of it only when I first use it.

If you have alot of extra time, you could hide behind the door, then when the cat comes in, squirt the heck out of it with a squirt gun.

How long have you been a cat owner?

The answer to the question is... you can't. It's a cat not a dog.

Mark your territory at the spot. It won't go in there any more.
