to begin working? (when administered to a cat)

2006-11-20 03:15:36 · 4 answers · asked by tab42104 3 in Pets Cats

my cat is began to deliver in the middle of the night. It was confirmed through e-ray that she has 8 kittens. Her labor slowed, I called the vet, he had me come picj up a shot of oxytocin ~ I just want to know how long it takes until it begins to work. I want to monitor her, and don't want to freak out prematurely.

It will take from 5 to 20 minutes to see the effects. And you may want to ask the vet.

why are you giving ocytocin to a cat? May I assume it is a pregnant cat? Why are you inducing labor? In a human, it takes about 20 minutes.
