How do you stop cats who do not have access to the outdoors from scratching wooden doors and frames please - they are adult cats - long term pets - average age 4 years old - multiple cats - all cats are related to each other - have litter trays, all very healthy and vet checked - previously had a garden - now in accomodation without access to a garden ? Realise that they need to scratch to renew and exercise their claws !

My two kittens: 4 month old tabby and tuxedo....

Tabby: Meows excessively... he'll be in a room and just meow like he's trying to find something (not food, water, petting or litter because he meows after getting all that). He also meows before going #2 in the litter
Tuxedo: Only meows when hungry or when my puppy jumps on top of him

Tabby: Runs and hides when I call him
Tuxedo: Runs to me when I call him

Tabby: Does not play with toys that much
Tuxedo: Loves toys and loves his new toy: laser pointer

Tabby: Hates dogs and hisses and claws at them
Tuxedo: Rough-houses with my Chihuahuas... and jumps them to start play

Is the tabby abnormal or is the tuxedo?

Also I still dont understand something...are cats afraid of the dark? I have 2 6wk old kittens, male(orange and white tabby) and female(mostly black calico w/ white underneath and all paws tipped white) Everytime they are sleeping and the light goes out and I go to my bed in my room they freak out and start meowing until the light goes back on or until they locate my bed and jump in it...ALSO I still havent named them..I want like a duo name since they are brother and sister but have no clue what yet...both of them are EXTREMELY playful and the tabby is very adventurous and the calico just follows her brother lol any help is appreciated thanks ;-)

one is male about a year old, nutered. the other is female about three years old spayed. the male cat sniffs and "paws" or "scrathes" at everything before he will sit by it or lay on it

I've had my kitten for about a month. I recently had him neutered, and even that was about 2 weeks ago. I put the litter boxes in the same spot, (we have 2 kitties) there are 2 litter boxes. 3 days ago he peed on the rug 1 foot in front of the litter box.... I figure... accident. No biggie... So I wash the rug, put it back out there, and yesterday he pees on it again.... WHATS THE DEAL FOLKS?? So Im thinking... remove the rug entirely... Obviously for some reason my cat doesnt like that rug there. He hasnt peed anywhere else that I've seen... although I noticed a funky smell by my couch Grrrrrrr...... Im tempted to give up on him. Anyone got any REAL ideas on how to deal with this problem? && What if he does it again without the rug being there? How can I fix my bad kitten?? And what the heck went wrong??

My cat gave birth to 4 kittens 3 boys and a girl. She gave birth in April. We gave away the girl and one of the guy kittens went missing. since the begining of august she hurts the 2 kittens that are left but only when they get near her. my family is also under the supicion that she's pregnant again. is that why she's being mean?

Alright, so my cat had a litter of kittens, they just turned eight weeks old and I have 6 of them.....they were all fine sat. afternoon, I went to the movies and came back and one was non active and really sleepy...he has continued to be the same way, will still eat but not playfully.....his actions are drasticly differant from the other kittens and I think my roommate may have did something to him on accident because she said they were all playing on the stairs and she chased them back up (they don't go downstairs unless with me).....I asked her if something happend and of course she pretended like she knew nothing.....he just sleeps all the time and does not move also looks like he's crying.....what do you think might of happened and if he's hurt on the inside rather it be broken bones or internal bleeding what can I do to help him?

i have seen other peoples animals do this from time to time, but she will sit down and watch animal planet for hours with me and my girlfriend, and her eyes do not move from the screen, sometimes when she sees an animal she likes she will run right up to the screen. To me this is very unusual behavior for a cat, she is already much more intelligent than the average cat, and shes still under 1 year old. does this seem unusual to anybody else and is it healthy for her?

I've always wondered this. all my life I grew up hearing this from my grandmother. so do you think that it's possible. or is it just something she heard when she was a child or something. my mom believes this too. cats are very smart animals anyways. I have a greyish brown male tabby kitten. what do ya'll think?

There's a mother cat and a litter of kittens in my backyard. The woman on the first floor has been feeding them, and they appear healthy (it's a small town and they can't really be hit by cars) so we want to catch them and get them spayed/neutered, and then release them. All the shelters around euthanize the cats or can't take in more cats, and they'd probably never find a home since they are feral. Aside from expensive methods, any tips on catching them? I have a lot of patience and don't mind working on it for a whole day. But I have to do it soon, because my neighbor wants to shoot them! Poor kitties!

P.S. I don't want any stupid answers like "Shoot them"
