FYI - I'm not giving my cat gum...but he did take a pack of gum off my coffee table and rip it apart. He never eats the gum...just licks it, rolls in it and then acts as though he's been bathed in catnip...

Yes, catnip is in the mint family.

"Catnip is not necessarily the only plant us kitties like to imbibe. Others are Cat thyme, teucrium marum, which smells good to us but will make our humans think something has died! Kitties will often show a response to catmint, Nepeta mussinii. Guess what? Like catnip, these plants are both in the mint family! So it only follows that a few really sensitive kitties will also love all the mints - peppermint, spearmint, etc. My meowmie had a cat that loved all kinds of mints so much that she would even try to eat mint CHEWING GUM, and she would chew on meowmie's menthol lip balm tube!" http://clawscience.tripod.com/cc4/cc417.html

Its possible, if your cat likes it more power to him, altho i would stick to catnip over gum. Gum isnt very good for cats.

Look up the scientific name for the plant catnip comes from, and cross refference it with the gum.

Cats actually go crazy over catnip because it contains a chemical similar to cat pheromones, so unless Trident gum has a chemical similar to cat pheromones in it, no, you just have a weird cat

Lol my cat basically does the same difficulty. it really is hilarious. We were given some loose from the vets a lengthy time period decrease back and that i hadn't used it till now, so accidently I only left it on the floor in a plastic bag. Lo and behold a couple of minutes later i found it torn to products (and my cat hardly ever tears stuff) with my cat operating around the domicile like a nutter. Bless him despite the indisputable fact that it truly is in easy words so humorous and that i could not locate the digicam both!! Ahh annoying x x

Is it mint flavored gum? I ask because mint and catnip are related plants. My cats go bonkers when I have peppermint tea.
