I think that if she was someones beloved pet, then she wouldn't be in such shocking condition! I think you should definitely keep her, she gets along well already with your kitty - so it's a match made in heaven! (maybe you should call her Cherub)

You don't say if she's friendly with you or not - if she is, then she must have had a home at some point. I would suggest that you get her into your house using the food, and if you want to keep her, put her in a room in the house for about a week, with plenty of food and a sand-box, this way, she'll get a chance to recover, and also will learn to associate your house with 'home'. The next step would be to take her to the vet for her shots, you don't want her passing on anything to your baby. In fact, I suggest you take yours with too, and get them both dewormed at the same time! Better safe than sorry. Your vet can then also tell you how old she is, and whether you need to get her fixed or if it's been done already!

Good luck, and congratulations on wanting to help a poor destitute baby have a chance at a loving home!

If you truly love cats, you will put out enough food for both kitties. That way, the friend cat will become healthy and put on the needed weight.

Remember: you don't own a cat; a cat owns you . . . if you treat the new cat well, she will adopt you and your home. If neither you nor your present cat mind a new resident, you'll both have lots more company. And if the new girl is treated better by you than she was elsewhere, you can be pretty certain where it is she'll prefer to stay.

Good luck!

i have a cat too, and there are now two other cats that roam the neighborhood, and sit on our doorstep every morning when i leave for work. i just set out another little dish of food. if you don't want to feed this cat, call animal control to come and get it, or find a humane shelter that does not put animals to sleep and bring it there.

If you can not take care of more than one animal you need to find someone who can. If you are going to continue letting it eat your cats food then you need to feed your cat in a different place and feed that one in the same place you have always.

feed both cat dear. Since they feel comfortable you might keep the other cat too, since no one claims that the cat is theirs. If the cat is thin and such, it might be a sign that the cat is not being taken care off. SO I believe the cat is bette off with you, than someone else :D.

That is so sad. Just leave some food out and if it doesn't have a liscence, than it is perfectly legal for you to adopt it.

There shouldn't be a problem with that since your cat is already friendly with the skinny cat, and it is already eating the food, so you can afford it! lol

But really, just help it and maybe adopt it if you never find its owners.

You can either feed the cat or send him to an animal shelter.but by all means do not just let the cat out into the mean streets alone.

Keep your cats food somewhere else that the other cat cannot get to it.

Call the vet and see if there is anything you can do about it there.

Keep trying to find the animals family.

If you can keep the cat, then do it. Get it strong and healthy.

You have two choices...feed the cat and claim it as your own or call the local animal shelter to have them come pick it up. Apparently it needs someone to take care of it.

Well, if they are not taking care of the cat then I would go ahead and keep her. I mean if she is not eating and is not staying at home either they are not taking care of her or she is abandoned. I would take her in and keep her as my own.
