I have had this same problem - a good scrub with biological washing powder is good. Also bicarbonate of soda sprinkled over the spot, left for a bit then hoovered up - but I'd wash the spot first and then make sure it was dry before putting this down as it can 'clog up' My cat is doing this in the same place at the moment and I have put down an "Off Cut" of carpet and wash it in the washing machine and put another one down while that ones in the wash! Good Luck with this cos its a right pain in the ****!

Becareful about steam cleaning.... you must use a professiona company that can handle the cat smells. They pretreat and then clean the carpet. If the suction isn't good enough then you will just be spreading the problem around....home cleaners and rental cleaners do not work good enough.
There is a product at Petsmart called "Nature's miracle" it works if you follow the directions carefully. You must make sure it gets all the way to the floorboards or it wont work. Find a way to cover the treated area until it's completely clean and dry of kitty will keep coming back.

Nothing gets rid of the smell. You will have to get new carpet or remove it all together. That is why I don't have carpet anymore. Have 4 inside cats.

If it's cat urine there are alot of products out there - if it was a male tomcat and he sprayed - you have to not only rip up the carpet and the tack strips, but you also have to treat the cement beneath it with a special chemical they sell for that purpose. I am serious - NOTHING gets that smell out of any type of cloth.

Get your cat fixed if it isn't already fixed. If peeing on the carpet and not the litter box is a regular thing then I would recommend taking your cat to the vet.

Hi..only thing i have found that actually does work is a spray from the vets that contains a biodegradable solution that works against the amonia in the urine naturally. Costs about £5 i think.
Hope this helps.

Dog urine.
No wait, that's red wine and white wine.
You'll probably have to get your carpet cleaned professionally. Cat urine stinks!

It depends. If it's a female, almost anything, if it's a male nothing. I once lent my car to a girl to help her move and she moved her cat wiothout a carrier without asking me. I kept my windows open for two years at which point my engine ceased; my car still smelled nasty. I'm guessing you aren't a breeder or you'd already know. Neuter your cat immediately and then buy new carpets.
