very good question. Pets are put out of their pain and misery..

This is what i think..They keep the humans alive because it means they spend more time in the hospitals or medical systems....buying medications and using hospital or government programs.

It all comes down to money..they like to drain people of every last cent they have..but they don't do that for animals.

in other words it's hypocrisy.

People understand about illness. They may not like it, but they understand that dying is part of life. People do die horribly. I wish people could be euthanized.
Pets don't understand. All they know is that they feel terrible, have always felt terrible, and will always feel terrible. Also, pain causes panic, sometimes so bad that you can't get near the animal to treat it. Usually people can be reasoned with and helped.
Let me tell you, the minute medical science says there is nothing else to be done for me, and I can't stand the pain. I will kill myself. There is absolutely no reason to die in agony. Doesn't matter if you are human or animal. Everyone has the right to die with dignity.

If an animal is in constant pain and suffering, beyond help, the only caring thing to do is to speed it on its way. It is a very hard decision to make and I've had to do it twice. With people, religion gets involved in it, the belief that it is God's decision to decide the time of death. And when there is an inheritance involved for those left behind, that clouds it too.

For even a teminally ill person to end their life, without assistance is suicide, with assistance is still considered murder or at least manslaughter.

Because it is not right to let an animal suffer when it can be relieved of its pain and there is no hope for a quality life.

We have drugs, pain relievers, hospitals, hospices etc. to tend to terminal people. These facilities don't exist for animals. The toll, emotional and physical, that is required to support the waning life is very high.

I have had to euthanize one cat. I am looking at having to euthanize another. I would not let my beloved friends suffer needlessly when there was no hope.

You don't think that Cancer patients given large amounts of medicine arn't slowly being put out of their misery? (DNR order for example) There is no since for a human or an animal to suffer if they don't have to. Why do yolu think assisted suicide is such a big thing?

If the family of the human gives it the OK, hospitals can and will turn off life support, and, in some cases, do give lethal injections.

Personally I think we should be allow to let humans be put to sleep who are in horrible misery. It's a kindness we allow our pets but not our friends/parents/etc.

becase pets cant tell you when they are hurting or sick. if a pet is beyond medical help i believe the best thing to do is to put them down, why make them suffer any longer?

Euthanasia for humans in that situation wouldn't be such a bad idea either.

because a pet isn't a human.
