If the vet says that she is healthy then don't worry. Some are just naturally thin. I have a super skinny cat and a big fat cat and I feed them exactly the same.......however when my older cat was sicka nd losing weight my vet told me to give him kitten food. It's richer and will help them put on weight...the only catch is that they really like it and it may be hard to switch back afterwards and they need to be on adult food long term........

some cats are naturally skinny - just like some people

feed her a good quality chicken and rice based kitten food to put a bit more weight on her (mix in part with adult food), and just know that good quality foods are NOT sold in grocery stores or Wal Mart

a small amount of canned chicken and rice once a day wouldnt hurt her (1 teaspoon a day)

I have a naturally skinny cat too.. she is now 10 yrs old and has always been thin

I should add - that if the vet said she is ok then she probably is - there is a difference between THIN and unhealthily SKINNY
better for a cat to be thin than fat

I assume this is a mixed breed cat and you know nothing about her parents or background. Different breeds of cats have different body types. if you go check out http://www.cfa.org/ you will see the range of body types cats can take thru selective breeding. But if two naturally skinny cats mate, they will (usually) have skinny kittens. Your cat may be one of those cats. Don't you know one of those people who can eat and eat and never gain weight?
Because she goes outside I think she is getting more exercise than the average "couch potato" cat.
If she does not have worms, is active and the vet says she is healthy, let her be who she is. Better on the lean side than too fat.

If she's 4 years old and has always been skinny, then that's normal for her. The vet says she fine, so don't worry.

All of my cats are of moderate size except for Misha who looks like the anorexic poster child for cats, but when she had kittens, she looked like a little burro and had a litter of 6 - all of whom were perfectly normal and larger than her.

And YES, she IS spayed now, and all of her kittens, too - for all those foul-mouthed bad-tempered animal activists who love to scream at people about fixing their animals instead of helpfully answering the questions!

If the vet says she is healthy then you should keep her healthy! If you want her to put on weight then give her friskies cat food. Or feed her more often. Good luck with your skinny kitty!

If the cat looks healthy, does eat and playful, then there is nothing wrong with her. If not, take her to the vet, perhaps she can not digest.
Make sure your cat eats in front of you and watch her stool if normal or nor, the vet will ask you if she got diarrhea ?

My cat is very skinny too. She is 7 years old and around 5 pounds. She is a very active cat and burns lots of calories. If you did want to help her bulk up try putting her on kitten food. It has a lot more fat and calories than adult food.

If you took her to the Vet and the Vet said she was ok, then why are you asking. So long as she doesn't have heart worms or a tape worm. You dont want her to be fat. That is not healthy.

She may have worms.... but if you have taken her to a vet and the vet says she's fine -- then she must just have a high metabolism!!! Another thing that can make cats gain weight is getting them fixed... if she is not fixed, try that :)
Good Luck!

If the vet says she is healthy, why do you want to fatten her up? Some cats are naturally lean.
