my cat loves pork and bacon, so why can't you find pork flavoured cat food in the shops?

your cat loves bacon and pork right, so there are only a couple of cats that eat pork and bacon so they don't make that kind of food.
why don't you make your own food. you could put bacon and pork in the cat food and make your own cat food that your cat eats!

I don't know, and there should be pork cat food, cats deserve any type of meat as they can chew! Maybe you should suggest that to the cat food manufacturing place! But maybe cats deserve better, i mean, what is in that stuff?? If a cat can eat a mouse or bird then why not a juicy steak or prime rib? It will be less mess and stinky and you will have the knowledge and satisfaction of giving your cat a healthy meal.

I dont think it is too fatty. Lamb has more fat than pork. I think it is to do with the fact that they cannot guarantee the fact that they wont get worms. Why dont you buy pork mince and cook it up for your cat. You can freeze it or keep it in the fridge and you will always have. Use a little garlic and olive oil. This will give them a lovely coat and the garlic will keep the fleas away. Add some cat pellets to it to ensure they are getting their nutrients.

hey I ask the same question to my boyfriend yesterday !
my kitten loves ham, and pork chops, but I look on his food boxes and it's only poultry, lamb, duck, rabbit and fish, no pork... I was wondering why...

Well, I know I don't answer you question, but I'm glad I'm not the one thinking about what cats like to eat ;o)

it's probably not good for them. maybe they haven't figured out a way to synthesize the flavor of bacon or pork for cats. or maybe the pet food companies aren't aware that cats like pork.
write to them. though i don't think pork is good for cats. if it's just flavoring it probably wouldn't hurt them though.

Pork is just too fatty for cats. I would (do) give a half slice of bacon as an occasional treat but would not go over board with it.

From what I understand and my own experience pork can upset a cats and dogs stomach and you would be dealing with a lot of mess to clear up!

No.. it is NOT because the cats are Jewish.... it has to do more with cost comparison:

It is simple economics - pork is a luxury meat, and unlike lamb and beef, there is a ready market for its scrap products - the sausages mentioned by the first responder (and luncheon meats and other processed abominations). We eat far fewer beef and lamb sausages, and there is a lot more of these meats produced, so the moggies and doggies get our leavings.
