There is a debate going on between two ex's about who should keep the cat. About six months ago a cat was purchased together. On the one hand, it was purchased by the allready owner of a cat of which this one was to be that cat's companion (Jack's story). On the other hand, the cat was purchased as a christmas present, but was to live with the other owner (Jill's Story). For the past six months the cat has been cared for, fed, and lived at Jack's house. Jack and Jill had problems and ended up breaking up. Jack had asked Jill every week or other week afterwards for the next two months to visit the cat, of which she refused. Jill went over to Jack's house the other day to "visit" the cat and demanded to keep the cat at her parents house, problem is:
At Jack's house she is with a companion cat, has food water, etc. And plenty of room.
At Jill's house, she (unfixed) would be outside with a unfixed male cat with fleas or in a small room by herself.
So who's house should the cat live in?

On Aug 11 I found 2 dead kittens in my patio. Part of the embilicle cord was still attached. The mother is nursing 2 other kittens in a secluded area of the patio, and I would like to take them as indoor pets when they are old enough to be taken from her.
I have read that kittens need to be with their mother for 6 or 7 weeks before separation. I don't know much about cats, but at that age I would think that they could climb the wooden patio fence and go their own way.
I have also read that if they are with the mother for 8 weeks they do not make good pets.
So my question is: at what age should I catch the kittens? and should I try to socialise with them before catching them? when and how should I socialise?
I put food and fresh water every day for mama, and she is not at all spooked by my being 3 or 4 feet from the nest. I have deliberately made no attempt to get any closer.
Thank you for your answer. I hope it will help me with the "adoption" process.
Harold.

We just got a cat. She's about 2 years old and friendly. We can finally brush her but she has about 7 or 8 clumps of hair on her. She is a long hair and obviously wasn't brushed regularly. Besides shaving her or using scissors, does anyone know how to get rid of the clumps? Maybe a spray on conditioner or something?

i asked a question regarding a pregnant cat and got insulted.i adopted the cat from an add in the paper. the people i adopted her said she was fixed. i took her to the vet to have her checked out before i brought her home because i have a SPAYED cat already and i didnt want her to get sick. thats when i found out she was pregnant. so unless you have any knowledge on pregnant cats dont answer a question on them.

We tried diets...feeding twice a day to now once a day (healthy potion not too much tho). We buy cat food for indoor over weight cats.

We pick her up and walk her to the farthest part of our condo association, and let her walk back home. This is getting old fast because she seems to be gaining weight.

We notice that after she eats she just wants to go lay down and sleep till her next feeding/drink. What a lazy cat!

I am afraid she is going to get diabeties.

PS: No I can't own a dog where we live. So plz don't say dogs are better etc etc.

My cat gets so vicious and I don't know how to calm him. He attacks everything that moves. My hands and my boyfriends hands are all scratched up because of this little kitten. I can't afford to get him declawed right now so thats not an option. He is neutered. How can I get him to be less aggressive? Or do I have to wait till he is old and fat?

My cat will climb up on me when I'm sleeping and start purring hella loud and curl up in a ball and start sucking on his back nipples and drooling and doing the kneading thing and if you let him go too long he starts making this GROSS loud sucking noise like maggie simpson sucking her pacifier.
It's hideous. One vet said it might be cuz he was taken from his mom too early and he's pretending i am his mom. I don't really care why he does it I just want to know how to get him to STOP!

Well, for example, my cat Faithful's name comes from one of my favorite book series by Tamora Pierce, my cat Molly's from Harry Potter, and my boy Stripes is because he has stripes (very original i know...). What about your cute and cuddly?

My cat keeps getting into fights and it seems that he loses. He has very large cuts behind his ear and on his front paw. They are massive in size and he keeps ripping them open. They ooze alot and he's had them for almost half a year now. I can't take him to the vet because of the prices but I would like to doze my cat so I can atleast disinfect the wounds.

She will let you pet her but then outta no where she walks just a few inches out of reach then turns her back to you.
I let a stray in my house to eat his name is Mr.Miaggi and he is so friendly it is unreal. He purrs, drools, rubs against you, throws himself down on your feet, ect.
Are girl kitty's more aloof than boy kitty's?
And why doesn't Lucky play with Miaggi?
She just looks at him and does nothing else.
