i asked a question regarding a pregnant cat and got insulted.i adopted the cat from an add in the paper. the people i adopted her said she was fixed. i took her to the vet to have her checked out before i brought her home because i have a SPAYED cat already and i didnt want her to get sick. thats when i found out she was pregnant. so unless you have any knowledge on pregnant cats dont answer a question on them.

I wouldn't worry about that one particular response. Some people just jump to conclusions.

Sweetie do not let that kid upset you. You omitted info it was a misunderstanding.
Now onto your question, You did a great thing by adopting this kitty. The people who previously owned her either lied flat out or did not know she was preggers. Keep in touch w/ the vet. When the time comes kitty will be able to handle giving birth. If she has a issue you will know. Start now in your search for adoptive parents for the kittens.
You will be A-OK....

BTW: There are many places that either do spaying/neutering for free or for a low rate. Some even include vaccinations. Call your local pound/Humane society/cat shelters/no kill shelters etc. and gather the info.
There is a cat project in my town that does the spaying/neutering + vaccinations for free. But (always a but) the kitty needs to be homeless.

Just ignor the insults. Some people just do not think before answering a question. I havent seen your last question but ill look now and try and give an answer as ive had a cat who recently had kittens also

Ive just added to your previous question. This should be of some help..
Enjoy the kittens. They are great fun to watch growing up. Remember they can not leave their mum for at least 8 weeks. Do not handle them for about two days but after that hold each kitten for about 20 mins a day so they become tame and not scared of humans
Good luck and have loads of fun!!!

People are judgemental because there are SO many unwanted cats who are dumped, feral, caged in shelters and/or destroyed -- and therefore a HUGE number of idiotic, irresponsible owners out there. And, if you read these boards, you also know how many have no clue what they're doing. [I.e., my cat's doing such and such, should I get rid of it?] ERGH!!! (And, apparently the people you adopted your new baby from fit into this category, as well!!)
Obviously, you are not one of those, but I'm also guessing you didn't explain what you did in your above post in your original post. Having not read the original post, I can't say, but I doubt you would have been attacked had you said that -- and unfortunately, none of us can know what you don't tell us.
Karma points and blessings to you for rescuing your little mum-to-be. I commend you and sympathize with you, because I had the EXACT same situation -- only with a stray rather than an adoption -- one year ago!!! I also went from having 1 perfectly behaved older female kitty to a total of FIVE, three of whom constitute a full-blown demolition crew!!! I wish you much good luck and patience. But enjoy the babyhood -- it's magical!

That first answer to your last question WAS pretty rude... I think people can be judgemental because we all tend to go off of our own previous experiences.... who knows, maybe that other answerer knows someone who has a cat who is constantly getting pregnant and always has kittens needing homes. Maybe she was frustrated. Either way, she jumped the gun in accusing you of simply not spaying your pets. Shame on her. Thank you for adding the details about your cat's "condition." Shame on the people who lied to you about her being fixed when you adopted her! But, bless you for taking her into your home. I hope that she and her babies are doing alright.

Dear Rose, I hadn't answered your last question and agree that people can be judgemental! I read what was said. My usual reaction tends to be judgemental too, in that I've been involved in rescue work and know how many unwanted animals are put to sleep each year. For those of us who genuinely love our animals and are responsible pet owners, it is just HEARTBREAKING!

However, I try to temper my answers by encouraging spay/neuter and by educating people. Especially those who are obviously youngsters. Think that's a lot more effective than "shouting". And people are a lot more likely to think about and perhaps consider taking the advice.

Kudos to you for your care and concern for your Mama cat. As someone else said, enjoy the kittens. It *is* a magical time.

Hope you can forgive the rude person, and hope they read this too & think about educating not verbally attacking.

Best of luck with your new "babies"!!! :-)

I understand how you feel. My cat is about to give birth anyday now. When I tell people she is pregnant, people want to know why i was so irresponsible. I dont feel that I was, and I could not afford to spay her at the moment. She stays inside except for the one time my daught let her out of the house. It hurt my feelings that people could say such mean things. You were under the impression that she was fixed and its not your fault. I dont think its right to fix them while they are pregnant. allot of people dont belive in abortions and i think it should apply to all creatures. Find those kittys good loving homes, thats all you can do. Good luck.

I didn't see the other question, but it is a pain when someone responds rudely.

I would like to applaud you for two things just from this note: you adopted AND you took the cat to the vet. Shows you're responsible, and the cat, as well as her babies, are lucky.

I agree i mean maybe someone wanted the kitty to have kittens and if every single cat got spayed then when all the cats go to heaven there would be no cats left! extinct gone! anyways lets not get angry at people we dont know (i guess im being a hipocrit because i get angry at people who kill and do horrible things to animals and i dont know them :S)

To the girl who said she doesn't have money to get her cat fixed...excuse me, if you don't have money to provide sufficient treatments for your cat, then maybe you shouldn't have a cat at all... you are very irresponsible!!! Go to your local shelter, it costs $50 bucks for your cat to be fixed(2/3 meals, k?) What kind of excuse is that? Please do the world a favor, don't get any pets if you can't afford 50 bucks, k??? Irresponsible/selfish ppl like you create so many cat problems in our society just because you don't want to spend 50 bucks to do something decent!!! Shuna, please get your facts straight, we face an overpopulation problem right now...it is way too far from being endangered.....
