Cats - June 2006

[Selected]: All categories Pets Cats

I just moved in to a new location with my two male cats. They are brothers who I've had since they were kittens. We have been in this new location for over six weeks and now all of a sudden my one cat is marking. He's peed and pooped in the tub, peed by two doors, and peed on ME twice (on my head while I've been in bed). There is another male cat who lives here, but they all pretty much ignore each other.

Two changes since we have moved: I recently took my cats outside on leashes to see if they would like it (neither of them did). Also, it has been very hot and humid this week.

Can someone please, please tell me why in the world my cat would want to drink out of the toilet, when I make sure to give him fresh water (2 bowls of fresh water) a day. I make sure to change it everyday, yet I catch him drinking from the toilet more often then from his water dish.

What is up with that?

I expect some dumb answers here, so go ahead!
It's hard to keep a cat "in". Is there anyway to make them fear the road as they should? (I know, they are cats, you can't make them do anything.)

and 2 of them uses the litter box and the smallest one out of the 3 doesn't. She seems to have found her own place...like on my brand new 3 month old living room furniture. I can't get rid of her cause she is for my middle son. I gave each of my kids a kitten so it wouldn't be fair if I got rid of her. Can anyone tell me how to make her go in the litter box? Thanks

We recently adopted a senior cat from a local shelter. He is a great cat but we have problems with his scratching and we really want to get him declawed. Trimming the claws is not enough.

My cat sometimes brings up dirty laundry from the basement. He drags it up..and leaves it in the living room or hallway. Is he trying to communicate something to me?

I have two cats. One of them is quiet and content, the other one is driving me nuts. I know cats meow when they are hungry/thirsty, lonely, bored, sick or in pain, and wanting attention. My cats always have food and water. The litter box gets cleaned regularly. I show her attention. My kids play with her. She has been to the vet recently with a clean bill of health. But, she meows almost constantly. I don't know what to do. I have to sleep with ear plugs in.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Does anyone else's cat sometimes have blood in their stools? We took her to the vet and was told to get Purina. She's on Purina, but sometimes it still happens. It seems worse after eating tuna, which she gets maybe once every week or two. Is it just a sensitive colon?

This City needs help. I found a Cat & 5 kittens in the bushes & the animal control people suggested I leave them for "dog food". I can not take them to my place or I will be in the bushes too. Are there any agencies in KERN County that help cats? The Cat People are full.

A very good friend of mine has a cat that is about 11 years old now, he thinks. This cat started getting her fur in severe big knots almost a year ago. This was right around the time he started using clumping kitty litter. She has also lost a lot weight since then. Then shortly after that she began missing the litter box while urinating. Now she pees in other places besides the litter box.
Anyone know what is wrong? My friend thinks it is the clumping litter. Does anyone have any advice on what to do?
My friend does not think that she needs a vet. He barely afford medical for himself. Person who gives the most help gets 10 points.
