I have two cats. One of them is quiet and content, the other one is driving me nuts. I know cats meow when they are hungry/thirsty, lonely, bored, sick or in pain, and wanting attention. My cats always have food and water. The litter box gets cleaned regularly. I show her attention. My kids play with her. She has been to the vet recently with a clean bill of health. But, she meows almost constantly. I don't know what to do. I have to sleep with ear plugs in.
Any ideas or suggestions?

I would get a confirmation that she is fixed.. becasue if she is fed, watered clean and given attention then that is a huge sign. Also.. it is not uncommon for a cat to go into a false heat.. kind of like going through the motions.. I have even seen a cat who acted as if she was pregnant was lactating and everything BUT was not pregnant.
ALSO Are there other cats in the neighborhood?? Especially male cats? They may be prowling around near your property or even coming right up to entrances windows etc and making her crazy. Our old cat used to do that then we figured out it was the neighbors male cat. You may not hear him BUT she does.. their level of hearing is much more sensitive than ours and they hear different ranges than we can.

Does the meower cat have Siamese in her background? Siamese cats and other exotic breeds like to "talk" constantly. My 2 cats always meow when it's mealtime. I think what you have to do is give as much love & attention as humanly possible. But that will probably make the meowing worse when you stop. Does she meow during the night? Mine sleep with me so I don't have that problem. How do the two of them get along? Is it because she wants attention from the other cat and the other cat won't acknowledge her? Who knows? Cats can be peculiar sometimes and I'm sorry it's putting a strain on you. Just love her as much as you can.

Look at #2.
1. Immediately preceding oestrus, your female cat may become unusually affection, and rub her hind quarters against furniture, other cats, and/or her favorite human.
2. The Queen (name for female cats of breeding age) will vocalize loudly. This "calling" may go on for several days, unless she mates.
3. She will assume a mating position: head down, forelegs bent, rear quarters raised to expose the perineum ( this raised posture is called lordosis), with the tail raised and held to the side of the body. Her rear legs will tread rhythmically, as if walking in place.
4. Queenie may also spray vertical surfaces with a strongly scented fluid. She will accomplish this by backing up to the surface and raising her tail high. The tail may quiver, and she may perfom the rhythmic treading described in step four.
5. If your female cat does not mate, she will go into oestrus as often as every two to three weeks, for several months each year, until she either mates or is spayed.

Funny thing is cats sometimes meow because they think that's what we want to hear. It's there way of conversing with us, even though we have absolutely no idea what they think they're saying...but they can't understand us either...so now your cat's just trying to get even.
I have one out of my three that are like that. She "chatters" to me all the time. Not a clue what she thinks she's saying, but it seems she's enjoying it.
So just talk back to her, that's what she thinks you're already doing. She's trying to be your equal.

Some cats are just more communicative than others....she or he just may be verbalizing and talking to you....maybe she's lonely that the other cat doesn't interract with her and she needs more stimulation. Do you have a kitty condo or something for her to climb on, play on, a scratching post. She sounds bored perhaps.

Perhaps she's seeking attention from other cats. When they are neutered they get quiet. If your cat is on the reproductive cycle, it might be that.
According to PetEducation.com, there are numerous behavioral and medical benefits to neutering your cat.

i had a cat like that, she had siamese in her and that breed is known for being loud for no reason. Make sure she isn't in pain though, something could be wrong internally, you should feel around her to make sure there are no lumps or sensitive areas. either that or she just wants everyones attention.
