Does anyone else's cat sometimes have blood in their stools? We took her to the vet and was told to get Purina. She's on Purina, but sometimes it still happens. It seems worse after eating tuna, which she gets maybe once every week or two. Is it just a sensitive colon?

1. it's time to get a second opinion! See a diffrent vet, a whole other office.
2. no more tuna for the kitty! If you see the blood in the stools around the same time it makes sense to quit giving it!

Skip the tuna and any other fish like salmon. If she still continues to have blood on her stool, the best thing to do is to go see the vet again but this time a different vet. well good luck!

it might be a sensitive colon, it might be an alergy to tuna,

alot of domesticated cats cannot eat many different things. if their diet strays from the cat food they eat their digestive system, even just once durring a period of a month, cats wont handle it well, and often disrupts digestive systems.

it also might be that your cat is just getting old, and there is an internal problem that is too minute for even a vet to notice. repeat doctor visits as the problem develops will lead to a diagnosis.

it might be a combonation of these things. if you suspect your vet might be neglecting an unexplored area of your cats health, you can always get a second opinion.

Her digestive system might not be able to handle the tuna I would stop feeding her it for a week or so and see if she still has blood in her stools then.

She could have ulcers, or she could be getting ahold of stuff and getting sick like salmonella. Watch what she eats. She could have swallowd something sharp and it could have cut her inside. Like if she eats birds and their bones. Or if she mistakenly gets ahold of something. Keep watching her, and if it gets worse, take her back, this isn't a normal or good condition.
