as soon as you get him spaded he won't be wanting to go outside any more! I had a male cat who would do that and after his last outing he came home all beat up I went and got him fixed! Never went out after that!

First of all, you should keep your cat inside. All pet cats should be indoor cats. Secondly, he needs to be neutered, especially if you aren't going to keep him indoors. Unneutered males are more likely to fight than any other cat. He will also have less chance of getting cancer if you neuter him, and he won't add to the overpopulation of cats in this country anymore. Third, he should be tested for feline AIDS and leukemia, because if he's gotten into several fights with other outdoor cats, then he probably has at least one of them (both highly contagious between cats). Your vet can advise you on that more. And lastly, he's not in heat, because males don't go into heat. He probably smells a female in heat somewhere near, and that's why he may be acting a little crazy.

Mt cat, Chucky used to do that. He went out every night, but only sometimes returned with wounds. I had him for 6 years and traveled to Montana and Alaska with him. Everywhere we lived he would go outside most of the time, but always return to eat and sleep (with me of course)
A word of caution, though. A couple, well few years ago, I let him out one night. He was really getting crazy and waking me up all night. So I let him out. Then he started meowing at the window. I went to the window and touched the screen. Chucky put his little black paw up to my hand. That was the last time I ever saw him.
I never thought I would think a cat should mostly live inside, but after feeling that loss for 3 years now, I don't want to feel that again. I don't know if it was easier or harder that I don't know what happened to him, but I sure miss the little buddy.

ok, he goes out there because he loves it outside theres probably some other cats out there to and get into fights with. my cats do all the time! its natural for them to fight and stuff.

and if ure going to spade them then u better do it in the first 3 months he's been born, or it wont work and he'll spray stuff all over ure house! but if its before 3 months then he wont.

if hes in heat now hes probably lookin for a mate! thats a girl outside! dont keep him in if there is no girl that he can mate with. or he will MEOW so loudly u cant sleep at night!

i hope this helps!

He fights with other male cats in the area over female cats Usually if the cat is neutered the fighting and night roaming stops

Well, firstly I've never heard of a male cat being in heat. Females get in heat...male cats do get "horny" but not on a regular basis. No offense, but are you sure you have a male cat? When mating, female cats will get neck and back wounds from the male cat when he clamps onto her with his claws and teeth. I have 2 male cats who are indoors (nights) and outdoors (days). You don't really know what's going on at night...other cats, getting in fights with other animals (skunks, raccoons, opossums). Try to keep him/her in at night and use some earplugs if he/she keeps howling to get out.

Teach him to fight. LOL
Ah yea to be young. Male cats don't go into heat. He might be calling to a in heat female in the hood. If hes not already fixed, its a good idea to have it done, males don't tend to wander and fight for a lady's affection when they don't have the urge to mate. And if that don't work, send him to Tiger Shulmans. Best of luck.

1st off a male cat doesn't go in heat, only the females do. And that is prob one of the reasons he wants out is he is finding all the females in heat. And having to fight other males. Why dont you have him fixed and he'll settle down.

does your cat have all of it's shots?
did you know cats can give each other a form of aids??!!
amoung other very nasty diseases. get him cleaned up
shots up to date, spayed. it's for his own good
and keep your doors shut and entrances gaurded for the next week at least- like he's an addict trying to get drugs
he'll learn that he's an indoor cat but he may not ever like it.
if you keeped him couped up he may start spraying, even if you have him fixed.
maybe get him a new house mate, that's also spayed or neutered
and he'll have a buddy. if he gets too old he may not bond with another cat... just ideas.... good luck!! and have patience.
