I don't want a gun in the house, and I have racked my brain trying to think of what I could get to make me feel more safe when he is gone. I don't want anything that our son could find and hurt himself with. I need suggestions!!! A big dog maybe? but what breed? I have a miniature dachshund so it would have to get along with her. HELP!!!

I have a guinea pig and am looking for a good home for it. I have a single, retired lady wanting to adopt him. the only concern we have is that she has an electronic rodent repeller in her house. Does anyone know if the guinea pig will be o.k. with that in her house or will it hurt him? I have never dealt with an electronic rodent repeller. I want him, our guinea pig, to be happy, that is why I am giving him up for adoption because we cannot give him enough attention. If you can help me, please let me know!!!! Thanks!!!!

I am thinking about getting a turtle for a pet. What should I name it? Also, one of my friends suggested the name Froyd. Is Froyd a good name?

I got a puppy last Friday and he has been fine up until early this morning when I took him outside to go to the loo and he did a runny poo, that was about 5.30am. Now around half an hour ago (around 9.30am) he did another runnier poo and this one had a little blood.
I called the place where I got him and all they said was they will send me some medicine. But that was all they said, not very helpful. So I called a vet and she said it could just be his change of diet but he has been fine the whole time I've had him up until now. She said if he is still doing it in 2 days bring him in.
He is still acting normal, playing, eating etc, it's just the loo problem.
So does anyone know why this might be happening and is there anything else I can do to stop it? Thanks heaps.

I am really thinking about getting a siberian Husky when I get a house, but I had some questions about them.

1.) I have heard from some they shed a lot, but others say they don't shed that much. Which is more accurate and what would be the best way to maintain their coat?

2.) Are these considered good family dogs?

3.) What should I look out for when looking for a puppy?

4.) What exactly does it mean when the dog is "registered?"

5.) What sort of temperament do these dogs usually have?

6.) Are these dogs pretty smart?

Also, any additional help or thoughts you could give me would be great. Thanks!

Recently my realative adopted a strary cat. This cat has been a stray for most of his life and has no clue whatsoever on how to use a litterbox. He is an indoor cat so he will urinate and defecate anywhere in the house. This is a big problem and we could use help solving it. So how do you train a cat who has never been near a litterbox to use one? Step by step instructions or links to places with step by step instructions would be appreciated.Note this is not a kitten this is an older cat which could make things more difficult.
Thanks in Advance!

My girls have had a pet toad since summer, sometimes when the cats are outside I take her out and let her hop around (she has learned to go back to her cage when she is tired) when I have her out I pet her, lately when I pet her she closes her eyes and leans to whatever side I am petting her on, why does she do that?

I know the 1 inch per gallon. But neon tetras are so tiny. For example, two 1 inch neon tetras produce much less waste and are still much smaller than for instance one 2 inch platty. So how many gallons do these beautiful little creatures need. I want to keep the largest school possible in a 15 gallon tank.

Recently I have started having asthma problems and when start panting, my cat has a strange reaction
First she starts running back and forth around me, and then she starts swatting at my face,
a few times she has even lunged at me with both front paws (it looks like a hug, a paw on each side of the face).
She does not have claws so I'm not worried about the behaviour but I'm curious about why she does this.

She does it with other people too, a friend of mine whom she does not know well made himself pant to see if she would do it and she had the same reaction.

She is a very affectionate cat, and we do have a strong bond, but as I said she has this reaction for other people as well.

Does anyone know what is going on?

Thank you!

My cat walked in on us years back now, we think he wasn't treated right because everytime you put your hand over his face in the wrong way he gets annoyed and attacks it. I love cats to pieces but it annoys the **** out of me everytime he gets angry at my hand, even though it's not his fault. How can I help to prevent this?

Thank you so much.

My friend is a very decent, upstanding citizen. She paid a lot of money for a dog and hired a trainer, etc. The dog lived in her home. She decided to give the dog away when she had a baby (she and hubby don't need the money so they didn't sell the dog). They interviewed several people and requested to see where the dog would be living, and asked if they could call occasionally to see how the dog is doing. They decided on a family--and found out that the family had given them a false address---and that their house was a mobile home and the dog was kept in the yard, chained to a tree. My friend called them to check on the dog and they told her not to call or come by again.

Fair or not fair? What are your thoughts?

Ok. So my cat is about 1 and a half years old. The latest things she has done are: broke and shredded the blinds, and pulled the wallpaper off of the wall. She also scratched a few walls up and the trim and a bunch of other stuff. My dad is getting so mad at her that he says that if she ruins one more thing he is getting rid of her! And of course I dont want that to happen. I really, really dont want to get her declawed due to the pain it will put her through. Is there anythings else I can do besides declaw her!!??

I have a 1 1/2 year old male English Mastiff and a 9 month old male Rott, both dogs have been fixed. They start playing really ruff, mastiff has a big gash under one eye. Then after playing with each other for a while they come after me and bite hard. When the dogs are seperated from each other they are fine, it's only when they are together. Walking them helps, but not nearly enough. I have tried crating one, but the other one will tease the one in the crate and then the non stop barking begins. Any suggustions on how to handle them, don't tell me to walk them, like I said walking them helps, but not enough.
I should also mention they don't fight, they just play way to rough.

Around 6 pm yesterday my kitten came to my bedroom door so I let her in.
She walked in and she was limping really badly.
The other cats were outside at the time so she couldn't have been playing with them.
So I have no idea what happened to her.
She was only alone outside my room for about 10 minutes after my dad went downstairs.

She had hurt her paw a few months ago but it seemed a lot better after a few hours and the limp was gone the next day. (she jumped off my shoulder and didn't land on it properly.)

This time it doesn't seem to be getting better.
It's been almost 24 hours.
I'm taking her to the vet tomorrow if it's still bad..but what could be wrong with her paw and is there any way I can check what's wrong myself?

I have a kitten who is hmmm, about 5 or 6 months by now. The day I got him he was 9 weeks old and took to my westie/poodle as a mother. He started trying to nurse immediately. She is spayed but with some time, started producing milk. She now actually has quite a bit in the two teats he focuses on. I gave her a bath the other day and I swear I could have filled a shot glass when I squeezed to test. He still nurses everyday all the time, she licks him and treats him as her son. He is pretty big now, i'm wondering if he will just keep doing it forever. I don't think that would be good for the dog, but I can't really do much to stop it as they love eachother and always want to be with one another. I crate train the dog, and if I don't let the cat in to be with her at night, he cries for her. It's really sweet........it's also kinda helpful lol, if I run out of wet food, she can always please him for me when he doesn't want the dry....
