I have a 5 1/2 month male pit bull and i was wondering at around what age do there heads start getting really wide and noticably diffrent..Or some people refer to it as there heads spliting ??

It all depends, some pits don't turn out to be "big headed pits". If you want a muscular, bigger dog....I'd hold off on on neutering him (if you even plan to neuter him) until he's 9-11 months old.

Honestly, they aren't supposed to have overly large heads. It is the people who cross in Mastiffs and English Bulldogs and then paper their dogs as pure that have created this problematic image. Here is a good site that is worth checking out, and this is the page to look at for head shape:

They can sometimes be slow to mature mentally and physically sometimes to as long as 2 years of age.
