It will kill all fleas within 24 hours so long as you got the stuff right on the skin of the dog, not the fur.

If you did get it on the skin and you still see lively fleas after 24 hours, it's a sign that you need to treat the house as well. This is where 95% of the fleas in a population live.

RE:
How long does it take Advantage flea killer to start working?

It takes approx. 24 hours for the medication to absorb into the firt layer of their skin. Basically, they should be gone within 24 hours. Beware though, Advantage is NOT waterproof, so if you have a water dog, you might consider Frontline Plus next time. Otherwise, your pet will be flea free by tomorrow. Also, make sure you wash all bedding and thouroughly vaccum because they can still be bitten by fleas that hop on for a ride. (although they do die afterwards)
Added:
do not bathe your pet after application. It will wash off. if you do decide to bathe after 7 days, the meds will still be somewhat effective, and MAKE SURE you use a pesticide free shampoo! (examples: Doc Akerman's Botanical, Ark Naturals Neem Shampoo, Flea Flea Bar)

I'm not really sure but you should notice reduced fleas in a few days. Give him a thorough bath with special flea shampoo. They are difficult to get rid of unfortunately but the Advantage stuff is good, I use it for my pets.

im not sure exactly for the advantage, but it takes a few days for frontline, so i always give my babies a capstar pill if they have fleas when i go to treat them the first time for the year.works like a charm. the capstar kills all the fleas on the dog within an hour or so and then the advantage/frontline keeps them off, i personally have had better luck with frontline plus then i did the regular frontline and now my babies are blessedly frea free :)

also if you decide to use the frontline plus you need to put it on 2-3 days before or after a bath and then it is pretty waterproof for a month for weekly bathing. but your vet will tell you all the specifics when you go to get it im sure:)

when my old girl got fleas off some chickens, and they were huge fleas, the museum kept one for their research, i took her to the vets and they gave her advantage flea drops and the fleas instantly feel of her onto the floor! the vet was amazed at how many she had, that stuff is brilliant!
