i was out in the yard a few days ago and seen a dog wandering around. one i have never seen around before. i live out in the country so am used to all the local peoples pets. it was very friendly and walked right up to me just wanting attention. it wandered off but showed up later whining out in the driveway. it was very cold and raining so i let it in. the next morning i called all the neighbors around and they said they had also seen it wandering around the past few days but no one in this area owns it and they think it was just dumped off out in the country. it obviously hadnt been fed in a few days but otherwise is a very clean well kept dog. very odd as its easy to tell it is a purebred basset hound and not what would just be dumped off. and it was surely someones house dog as it is trained to go potty outside and is very used to people and getting on furniture and sleeping in the same bed. it also gets along well with my house dog. it had no collar or tags.

I posted a couple of days ago about my missing Oto... I have still not found him, or his remains :( anywhere....

The day after I 'lost' him, I carried out a clean/water change - before I done this, I tested my water levels...

The nitrite (NO2) was reading 0.8, when it has neven been over 0.3 before....

So, done the clean/water change, and today, 2 days later, I've done another water quality test... my nitrite levels are still showing as 0.8... Nitrate and Ammonia are fine...

I have no idea why the level has gone up, and is still up after a water change.... I'm wondering if my little missing fella IS still in the tank somewhere, rotting away.... would this cause the nitrite levels to go up?

I know the level isn't too dangerous at 0.8, but I don't want it to stay like this.... could it be the missing Oto causing this, or something else??

My mom's friend at work is getting rid of her dog.
My mom's friend lives with her mother, who is old
& weak, & the dog wants to play, & sometimes
knocks the mother over, who hates the dog.
The dog is a 1 year old chocolate lab.
It already has a name.
My mom was thinking about getting it,
but we have three cats.
Will a lab & the cats get along?

A guy is selling his female german shepherd puppies that are about 3 months old. Here are my questions about it:

BTW: You don't need to answer them all, just answer as much as you know***

1.At what age will it become big? (Normal size)
2.Are they as strong and active as the male?
3.When should we get a pro trainer?
4.How much excerise does it need in a day?
5.What excercises does it like?

Thanks!

I'm not going to say how many breeds is in this dog, but I will say it's less than 5, and it's not purebred. First one to guess the right mixture gets best answer vote from me.

Ok so my 3 year old pitbull terrior jack has a new friend apparently. I just got home from work and when I opened the back door to let him in for the night another dog i think it's a german sherpard pops up behind him and scares the crap out of me! This german shepard is a boy, and him and Jack seemed to be getting along fine...i've been at work all day and so i dont know how much time theyve spent together already...any ways the new dog the german shepard looks like an adult kinda and i thought that with boy dogs u couldnt just put them together because of the territorial issue so why are they not fighting? And also i caught the shepard trying to have sex with jack from the back like what guy dogs do to the *****..and Jack acted like he didn't even mind..Is there such a thing as a gay dog? Are these two going to have homosexual territorial problems later on? Im being 100% serious with my question..any help or advice etc is greatly appreciated..

thank u confused dog owner

My dog is I think around 13 years old, and she has abdominal cancer. She just started whimpering from inside her doghouse. She slips and falls over all the time and ends up peeing all over herself. She has what seem to be seizures and almost goes into a coma...but she is still sort of playful and eats all of her food and drinks her water and everything. I called my brother who is technically her owner and said that I think its about time we let her go but he doesn't want to yet. Is it time to say goodbye?

so this lady was giving away a free dachshund the other day on craigslist...sad i recently lost my boxer i figured i would get another pal to hang around with. anyway, i think this little guy was abused or something because everytime i approach him he runs into his kennel or away from me. its kind of depressing me because i want him to cuddle with me (he does every now and then) and come to me when i call him. ahhhhh! ive tried looking up things online but i dont know what to do because i havent found quite the right thing. when he does come to me he sometimes comes right up into my lap and lays down, other times he lays on the other couch and wont listen to me when i call him. helpppppppp!

Someone thought it was a funny joke so they put my male Betta in a tank with 2 piranha. They were to small to actually kill it but they ate all of its fins. I now have a Betta with no fins. It does not seem to be injured other than the fact that it has no fins, and it is still swimming around. Will his fins grow back? The fins by his gills are still fully intact.

My cat keeps on deciding that instead of peeing in her litter box, she is going to pee in my bed. Now, She does pee in her litter box but every once in awhile it is in the bed. She has stained both sides of my mattress and I need to figure out how to make her stop.

Should I try changing the type of litter we use? I have punished her and all that good stuff but i need something else to get through to her. I don't want to get rid of her.

The tank was ran for about a couple of days. I had the water in the tank as well as the tap water tested. Water was room temp. Everything was fine. We added our beta, feed it "Beta pellets" once a day as recommended. My wife checked on it, everything was fine, the next minute it was siting on the bottom belly, up dead. What happen?

Does he even have a name? He wears a gee which is a uniform for different types of karate. He dresses and acts like a communist from China, with all his ways and wisdom of violation notices he dishes out with one swift flick of the wrist.

Oh humble master of hamster, we give upon ye the names of the communistic leader we do shall enjoy the violation notices from.

I have a male and female betta I have conditioned them both for 2 weeks. The male has built his bubble nest. The female has eggs and vertical lines on her body. I have them in the same tank now. The male chases her and flares at her and she just swims away or hides in the plants or sits on the bottom of the tank. He has nipped at her but she has no damage and is pretty quick so he has trouble getting near her, so I am not worried about her being hurt yet. I just want to know if she would be acting like this if she is ready or if I should take her out and wait longer. This is my first time breeding bettas and I have researched it, I just want to make sure I do everything right? What do u guys think

I have had great luck with both male and female bettas, white clouds, and blue paradise fish in untreated plain tanks in the 1 to 3 gallon range. Are there any other freshwater fish that can live in this environment?

Hello,
I have a 5 1/2 month old olde english bulldog and I am wondering if there is anyway to induce vomiting without hurting him? I ask only because he has a history of eating things (like full pairs of underwear without chewing them or anything) and then throwing up. Now it's been awhile since this happened because we have puppy proofed our house as much as possible but last night I noticed that his belly was harder then normal and REALLY engorged. He also was whining a little bit at random times but I can't seem to figure out why. Now tonight his belly is twice the size, very big so I am wondering if perhaps he found something and ate it and it is stuck in his belly?
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated greatly!
