I have found a dog that I would like to adopt on the Adopt-A-Pet website that is run in conjunction with the RSPCA. I was wondering if anybody would know the cost of adopting a dog through them and what the process is.

I went to the vet today for my dog, and because my dog has the flu she told me to feed her rice, without salt and chicken. plan chicken.

I think my turtle is pregnant, because I've seen her and my other turtle doing the mating ritual (flittering of the claws) but not the actual thing. They've done that several times before but nothing seemed to change afterwards. This time, the female stays out on the rock trying to get as close to the light as possible, and she hasn't been eating.

So, I got her some sand from the pet store and put some in another tank and moistened it. After putting her in, she was immediately overactive and keeps trying to get out towards the other tank with the male (they're beside each other). Am I doing something wrong?

Also, I know that if keeping the eggs inside her may kill her, but I don't necessarily want 20+ baby turtles. What can I do about that?

I had a litter of pups that I gave away. They were so cute and popular that I wanted to do it again, but this time re-coup some of the money I spent on that one and this one. Also it gives my son more experience in what he is interested in becoming, a Veteranarian. I have heard the term "backyard breeder". Definately not in that crowd! May I know what you think about it?

Thanks to all of you for answering my question so promptly. I acknowledge that I did the wrong thing, but will someone not judge me and answer the question. Sure, I could have sold them all and not asked the question. It's not about money, I want to do the right thing.

Is it just my experience with the trainers I've dealt with, or has there been a shift in training methods in the last 10-15 years?

I remember when I was training dogs in 4-H around 10-15 years ago, treats and baiting were a huge "no-no". We used only praise. And it was just unquestioned that we used choke-chains for obedience, show-leads for showmanship (similar to confirmation in execution; except the handler is being judged, not the conformation of the dog), and flat-collar for agility.

Now, every single trainer I know of uses either treats or clickers. And it seems almost nobody uses choke-chains anymore.

Is it just the trainers I've happen to come across, or has there really been a big switch?

If there has been a shift, what is your opinion of the change in training method trends?

I recently adopted a dog from the humane society that was pregnant. I took her into to have her spayed since I mainly do agility/obedience and she is a mutt. Her stomach started to become larger and larger and I suspected pyometra. The vet told me it may put her in danger to abort the pups (my original plan) since she was so far along. This was about a 10 days ago and my vet told me she was about 50 days along. Today is her 60th day (give or take) of gestation. She has been acting very normal until today. She hasn't eaten anything all day and vomited 3 times this morning. I've been regularly taking her temp. and it has been between 99.9 - 99.5 for the past week or so. I just took it and it was 98.9. She has slept in her whelping box almost all day and has started pawing around a bit. The pups are wiggling quite a bit in her belly, which is actually normal. Can anyone help me? I've delivered horses and other livestock before but this is my first time with pups!

not the tall ones, the wide ones that are see thru white with holes on the side and no top. i was thinking of covering the top w/ a towel or cardboard during the night just in case, but they dont jump so i think during the day it would be fine to leave it open, right? i guess they look like this:

I have 3 dogs. 2 of them are half chihuahua half rat terrier and the other is a terrier mix (we got him from the pound so we don't know what he is). Both of our males (one being the chihuahua rat and the other being the terrier mix) are a little over weight, but not obese. How can I get them to lose weight? It's hard monitoring their food because we don't know how much they are eating. Our terrier mix is 10 years old and he has lost about 3 pounds, but I think that it's because he gets chased away by our food agressive female and doesn't want to fight back. Please help!! I want them to be healthy!
