Advantage only kills adult fleas. Frontline Plus kills adult fleas, flea eggs & ticks.
As for the comment on Revolution. It is a very good product for cats. It prevents fleas, heartworms, intestinal pairsites, ear mites and mange.
If you are having a flea problem you should use one of these products in conjuction with Capstar. Capstar is a pill you give your cat (or dog). It starts killing adult fleas within 30 min. and last for 24 hours. If you are having a flea problem it will put a dent in the population.
If you are using Frontline or Advantage you must use a detergent free shampoo or it will just wash it off, and will be useless. You can use any type of shampoo with Revolution.
However, if you have a flea infestation in your home or yard, they will be reifested if you do not treat the enviroment. You need to vacume and clean a lot. Make sure when you clean up the kitties' bedding that you do not shake it out... You will only be spreading the flea eggs all over and worsen the infestation. Carefully roll up all bedding and wash it in hot water.
If you have a flea infestation in your yard sprinkle Diataneous Green (it can be purchased at Home Depot or any gardening store) in your yard. Even if your cats do not go outside, the fleas from your yard will jump on to your shoes and pants and come in. Diataneous Green is safe for all animals, children and the environment (even earth worms). It will take care of fleas, roaches, ticks and any other creepy crawly with an ecto-skeleton.
Good luck with your kitties!!! I hope this info is helpful!

Both are good. Although, Frontline protects again fleas and ticks, Advantage only does fleas. So, if he's indoor/outdoor, I'd go with Frontline.

I use tick and flea collars, have found some strange reactions from using such strong chemicals, lumps appearing and such. With collars I have never had a bad reaction, and have had and cared for over 30 cats, including those I have rehabilitated.

See your vet. I personally use Revolution since protects from more. It protects against heartworms, fleas, ticks, and more. Heartworms can be fatal to your cat.
