i have had the SAME dang problem..4 dogs, one of my neighbors cats that is either very brave or very STUPID wants to use my yard as his litter box.
my dogs go NUTS chase the thing up a tree and bark like mad till i go out and round them all up and get them in the house..then *I* have to talk this crazy feline out of my tree and chase him off my property.
my neighbor threatened to poison my dogs... i told my neighbor that if my dogs got ahold of his cat...it wasn't my fault. (of course i didn't want that to happen..but he lets the cat roam!). that didn't seem to help, so instead i video taped the cat jumping in my yard.
i sat outside all weekend long to catch it doing this about 3 or 4 times, and why my dogs barked etc.
then the next time i got a compliant filed against me...i took my video and used it as evidence.
also i invested in hotwire for the top of my fence. the dogs cant get to it cause it's up high, and the cat learned his lesson the first time he jumped up there.
haven't seen that stupid cat in months.

Greetings, I'd be really ticked off too if I were you, that's alot of money and since your dogs are barking and not chasing the cat home, I think there's a leash law and you are abiding by it. I would set up some sprinklers in your yard with something nasty in them and watch for the cat and turn them on! Maybe some nice smelly fish oil, paint, something to get all over the cat so when it goes home it reeks but good. They need to be more responsible for their cat and not let it roam and cause trouble. Another thing you can do is coax the kitty to come to you and pick it up and take it over there every single time it comes over to the point it annoys them, make sure to keep the cat awhile and ring their doorbell at 3am or some time really annoying.

Cats USUALLY [not all] hate water. Set up a sprinkler system in your yard and turn on WATER when cat comes over. He will soon avoid your yard.
One person said use fish oil or something that smells bad, it is not a good idea. Its your yard and you are going to be smelling it 4-ever if you do.

You could complain everytime their cat is on the fence. Inquire about leash laws on all animals in your area. Ask Animal Control in your city about the laws on cats. Also check with your subdivision on any rules concerning pets.
The neighbors should have some responsibility in this...
If you cant ask them to keep their cat indoors or walk them with a leash, and they wont accept these terms...then its war.
If there are no leash laws for cats, then call the police and ask them what you are to do. If your citation says you can go to dispute fine, then do that. Go to court and let them know what is going on.
Good Luck! You shouldn't be held completely responsible for this if it is their cat doing the antagonizing.

Breaking the peace is only during certain hours. I learned that from experience. Keep your dogs inside during these hours and you should be ok. You can't control when they leave the cat out. Remember karma, what goes around comes around.

Why not engage them in civil conversation and try to point out to them that your dogs are barking because of their cat. Why don't people now-a-days TALK to one another. They should have talked to you before they called the cops and you should talk to them before you take any retaliatory action. Revenge always comes back to the person who uses it.

i'd have to agree. if the cat comes into your property, you can catch it in a humane trap. turn it in (even if it has a collar) to animal control. might give your neighbors a wake up call.

Hmmm.. You can't.. If you try to get back at them.. then they'll be back at you, and things will just escalate beyond control.
Teach your dogs to ignore the cat.. Teach them not to bark. Keep them in the house when the cats are out.
