today she started moaning so we got her all settled in... she birthed one kitten and I knew it was too small. She wouldnt touch it so I started to rip the sac. The kitten wasnt fully developed.. no hair and about the size of a stocky mans middle finger..it was dead...momma cat ate the placenta but I took the kitten away before she could eat it...cleaned herself up and went about her way... 6 hours later she is perfectly fine .. no bleeding.. no moaning.. I can still feel kittens moving inside.. what do you make of this???

I want to buy a tortoise but I don't think I have enough money for all the things that it would need. Would I be able to provide essentials AND buy things that it would like for about £200-£250?

I have an empty freshwater 10 gallon tank with a heater, oxygen pump, gravel and filter. I have used this tank before and have kept fancy guppies and Mickey Mouse platys. I want different fish this time, about 2-3. Any ideas?

I have a few questions about gerbils and miniature dwarf hamsters. I think I'll be buying one or the other this weekend.

1. How active are gerbils and miniature dwarf hamsters? Will they run away if you let it sit on your floor?

2. How big of a cage is appropriate to buy for a each of them?

3. I have a younger sister whose 9 years old. Will she be able to take care of it?

4. is it best to get a cage with many obstacles like tunnels, ect?
I have a cage that is basically an aquarium. It doesn't have any fish in it. After I clean it, will that be suitable? I know it's plenty big.

5. How often do you have to empy their litter?

6. Are they fun animals?

Yeah. That's it! Thanks for answering my questions.
You don't have to answer the questions for both a gerbil and a miniature dwarf hamster, but if you have both, could you? If you just have one of them, answer it for the small animal you have.

The last few days he has been sleeping all day long.. He only gets up to eat and go to the litter box, and occasionally change rooms.

He has always been lazy, but not this much.

Could he be sick? He doesn't have fever, and he eats and drinks water and goes to the litter box normally.

Also he had some kind of dry skin little spots or something. I think it itched, because he kept scratching. And when they disappeared they left a little wound under it, but that is healing normally. What could that have been?

I know they have an elongated soft palate but at least once a week it sounds like she could be choking. Is there some way I can help her when she's gasping for air? My vet said she doesn't need surgery.

My three year old cat was so itchy two years ago and developed skinlesions that would scab and bleed. I took her to two separate vets. They did food trials, bloodwork, fleas negative, ringworm negative, ear mites negative, feline leukemia negative. They tried antibiotics, flea meds, and gave steroids for relief. To make along story short, before consenting to a biopsy or expensive allergy testing, I went to a local natural petfood store and got some different food. She has been perfectly fine for a whole year. Now, two weeks ago , she has started with the skin problems again. Anybody else have similar experience?? I have made appt. with vet next week but wonder if anyone has advice.

Oreo stands on the cage ladder going to the pen, but all he does is sniff the air and go back in his cage. Is he lonely or depessed? Should i get him a playmate? What should I do? She told me that she weants a BEAGLE, but I am trying to talk her out of it because she has a small yard, is in i pretty small house, and likes to spend most of her freetime inside. Is there some kind of a lapdog who might be relatively happy to sit and snuggle with her for most of the day?

Hi I am so sick of seeing all this animal abuse everywhere I look. It breaks my heart seeing what animals go through. I cry every single time I see a stray animal. How many of you people think people who kill their animals should get the death penalty?

Also for everyone out there that think pit bulls are bad or scary dogs need a reality check! If a dog lashes out on ANYONE or ANYTHING it is because of the OWNER!!!! Any dog can be a GREAT dog with basic training and proper socialization, so if a dog hurts or kills a person or another animal the blame should be put on the Owners!

I pray for all the animals alone out there I wish I could save them all.

For all you animal abusers out there, your time will come! A person must be pretty pathetic to have to take their hostility and anger out on a poor animal that only wants to love and be loved. YOU TYPE OF PEOPLE MAKE ME SICK!!!!!!

I recently rescued a male rat from a girl who was keeping him in a small (4"x9") carrier. He is about 1-2 years old. I know he is getting old but I would like to help him live out the rest of his years happily. I bought him a large cage and filled it with a small hutch, a wheel, many wood-blocks and cardboard tubes for him to play in. He seems to be enjoying this a lot, but will not leave the cage. I left the it open for an hour and the most he did was sniff the air. I think he is depressed. Should I buy another rat to keep him company? I cannot afford a girl because I will have to get her fixed or purchase another setup (which I have been told by my landlord I am not allowed to do) Would two males fight? How can I get him comfortable with being picked up? He was held a lot (and never picked up by the tail) by his previous owner but never liked coming out of his cage. Any advice would be great! Thanks in advance.

I've had my cat for about a year now and i've noticed that it likes to get in plain cardboard boxes and sleep. Every time i have a box lying around he just gets in it and stays. Size does not matter for him, he is almost 12 pounds and he gets in boxes that are to small for him! I know i shouldn't be worried i just want to know why he is obsessed with boxes?!

Our Havenese cross Yorky, is the most wonderful dog. Good temprement, healthy all round, has good exercise in large garden. He is eight years of age and this morning was the third time in his lifetime, that he has had seizures. His eyes remain open, but staring, his legs twitch violently, and this lasts for about 1 minute. Then he comes out of it, with me stroking him and his eyes scared and open, and lies there for about 5 mintues. Then it starts again for another minute.

Causes? How to deal with it? Any cure?

Thank you/

My dog is old, almost 16. I noticed lately that she goes around in circles. She's not chasing her tail, or sniffing the ground. She just goes around & around, like she's confused. It really freaks me out. Is this normal? What does it mean?
