If treats do not coax him out, close all the doors in your home and go room to room looking for him. Use a flashlight for under furniture, and make sure you are calling for him so he is awake and looking around. Good luck.

Your cat could be very ill which is why he's hiding. Cats are notorious for running off when they don't feel good. Is he an inside or an outside cat. If he's an outside then you need to lure him into your house or into a crate that's outside. The best way to do this is with something he just can't resist, tuna! And the stinkier the more attracted to it the cat will be. Although, keep in mind, cats usually don't eat much when they are sick. Especially if they have an absess then they will not eat at all. If this is the case then you will need to lure him by other means. I would suggest calling his name while sitting on the floor. Never give the cat any indication that you are going to the v-e-t. They can sense this somehow and will never come out. You need to remain as calm as possible and as sweet as possible. You may want to try using cat nip too, but again if he has an absess then he will not be interested in this either. Good luck! You're doing the right thing by taking him to the vet.

It is good that you want to take him to the vet; weight loss can signify many different problems, and some are very easy to treat. You have not mentioned how old he is, but that could be a factor in weight loss. Also, a sudden change is always a signal something is wrong.

If he is an indoor only cat, you need to discover his hiding spot which is often a small space where he will feel safe. Sometimes under furniture is a favorite place. Sometimes watching your other cats will be a clue. Often they make the rounds to check up on each other.

try searching the house again - and then close the doors to rooms you have already searched.

a couple of sneaky hiding places my cats have found are IN the box spring (they find a hole in the fabric on the bottom, in the basement in the rafters - and once they found a way to go inbetween the basement ceiling and the first floor flooring.. Up in chairs or recliners (same as boxspring), IN the bed, in closets - in the bottom in the back and actually up on the shelves. Behind the couch..

you will probably have to start moving large pieces of furniture.

Good luck!! I hope the vet finds out what is wrong with him right quick.

When i first got my cat from the SPCA she was hiding in a drawer... Cats are looking for tight area to feel safe.

You are doing the right thing by taking him to the vet...It's nice to see other people that do care.

Good luck.

Tuna, or food. You need to lure that cat out. There's gotta be something that would help. If your cat is indoors, look EVERYWHERE. If he is outdoors, try shaking a container of kitty treats.

Set down food or something and hide and wait for him. Oh, and when mine hide I roll on the floor and pretend to cry and they become sympathetic and come to lick your face and make you feel better.
