I think the same way you think, and in high school I got beat up because I said if a pit bull bit my mother, it was either the owners fault, or my mothers.
I pray for all animals, because they have no voice to speak out about their pain. I volunteer at humane societies, and my tithe is spent on food and collars and leashes so that they may have a chance in this world.
I am thinking of getting together with the local veterinary clinic as well as a few local businesses to see if I can put together a fund-raiser to help spay/neuter animals whose owners can't afford the large cost. (it's like, $200.00 here). I hope I am successful.
I hope to one day be able to own/operate a no-kill shelter, as well as train those animals in the shelter so that they have an even greater chance at adoption.
My dog and two cats were rescued by myself. My dog was in an outside pen with 7 other dogs who were unloved and uncared for. They had no food, and they all had heart worm at severe cases. I couldn't save them all, but the ones that survived have good homes now. My two cats were 5 week old kittens whose mommy cat would kill the kittens for food. They are sisters who have just been spayed themselves as to put my tiny dent in the horrible cycle of strays.

.oh just give me a F***** break!.
quote "Also for everyone out there that think pit bulls are bad or scary dogs need a reality check! If a dog lashes out on ANYONE or ANYTHING it is because of the OWNER!!!! Any dog can be a GREAT dog with basic training and proper socialization, so if a dog hurts or kills a person or another animal the blame should be put on the Owners!"
.What I am gonna say is because I am an APBT owner and a responsible one ..... and YOU OBVIOUSLY have no clue what you are talking about when it comes to this breed!!!!!!!!!.
.People argue that it is all about "how we raise them" and providing socialization is the key to no problem dogs. Unfortunately, that’s not true.
Good management and knowledge prevent trouble. Responsible and caring pit bull owners have done their homework and know what to expect from the breed. This breed's genetic traits involve dog aggression, to varying degrees. Even the most well socialized pit bull can one day decide that other dogs are not play buddies. It happens most often when the dog reaches maturity between two and three years of age, and it can happen without apparent reason.
Because of the breed's background, it is unfair to expect dogs to behave the way we want them to when it comes to dog aggression and dog to dog relationships.
.got it?.

I completly agree with your point on animal abuse, but the death penalty? Bad things can and do happen, but keep in mind that there is a difference between slaughtering people and the death of a pet bird due to negligance. I'm not trying to undermine your opinion, because abuse should be taken very seriously. And maybe the next time you see a stray, you could take it to a non-kill shealter or animal refuge that you have seen or liked around town. People can help animals in a big way, but taking a radical point of view won't do much.

I love animals myself. Any kind of abuse is terrible, especially when inflicted on helpless species. However, I don't think that the death penalty would solve the problem. It's true that the people who abuse dogs, cats, ferrets, humans, etc. should definitely be corrected for their dangerous behaviour, but I don't feel that anyone has the right to kill them for it. Otherwise that's just promoting having the "death penalty" served to dogs (of any breed) who lash out with abusive behaviour towards humans.
I think that in order to truly solve abuse, more abuse prevention methods need to be set in place, and humans and dogs both need to be raised under conditions that promote love and peace rather than aggression by choosing not to inflict abuse to correct it. A good way to start would be to encourage humane methods of study in schools, like computerized alternatives to dissection.

So why don't you volunteer at a shelter or something of that nature, and yes there are may abused animals out there but there are so many more that are loved and well cared for. Instead of complaining about it why don't you help the animals that need it.

I am very much an animal lover, but I am not sure what your question is. If you know of specific cases of animal abuse and do not report it to the proper authorities than you are at fault as well. Don't just fuss over it, get involved do something constructive!

I think everyone took your comments the wrong way. I agree with you. I had neighbors that had two cute dogs in their backyard this past summer. In the heat, they nver gave them water or food. This is abuse....those dogs had no shelter from the hot Texas sun......finally after calling animal control about 50 times, they came and got those poor dogs.

I feel the same exact way I treat my puppy like a baby. I think people who kill dogs should get the death penalty, just like when a dog attacks a person they get put down.

I think most animals are happier when they are free. They aren't helpless either. God did give them some basic instinct and cold whether is nothing to most animals. Please don't cry the next time you see a stray. people who are cruel and torture animals should be publically flogged, but the death penalty a little extreme. I don't know about pittbulls, they seem to be less predictable around children than other dogs. Chows and sheaperds can be the same way. Have you ever heard of one man dogs? You don't have to be mean to an animal to make it protective of you, or jealous of other people or dogs. As for dogs that attack other animals, that is simply territorial or hunting instincts taking over.
