My dog sleeps on top of the covers next to me at night. He's not allowed on the sheets.

Yes, 2 out of 3 of our dogs sleep in the bed with us. My Dachshund sleeps along my side, my Border Collie sleeps at our feet, until hubby gets up for work, then she claims his space. My American Eskimo prefers not to be in all that body heat and much prefers a cool spot on the floor. She'll come and hang out a little bit, but never for very long.

Yes, 3 of my siberians do (on the covers at the foot of the bed). The others prefer their kennels except 1 that sleeps under the bed.

I would never let my dog sleep in my bed. I always provide a very comfortable bed of their own. This is just a part a good training to help teach the dog who the leader of the pack is and there is less problem with my dog testing my position as the leader of the pack. Sleeping with your dog is fine if you don't care who is the leader, but for the safety of children and visitors who may be in your home, its always best if you are the leader....not the dog. Some dogs are OK with being the leader but others will show tendencies toward aggressiveness and if you let this type of dog sleep in your bed, you are just adding to the aggression.

Definetly not! He is a dog not a human. People who allow their dogs to sleep in/on bed with them do not have the respect of the animal, in fact the dog is showing dominance and that makes the dog the pack leader. You are probably having other problems with the animal and may not even realize it. Dogs are animals not children and if you do not treat them as such they will be a confused and unhappy dog. They need structure and rules the same as they would in a dog pack and this must come from the pack leader--YOU! Most dog problems stem from owners who treat their animal like a human member of the family, this is cruel and unfair to the dog. The animal does not have human emotions, he does not understand how we think, they live in the moment and react to situations, they don't think them through. If you want a contented and obediant animal then you need to learn to be a pack leader, calm, assertive and in charge.

YES!!! My jack russell curls up as close as she possibly can to me....If I roll over just to get a little space...she will get up and move closer. She has been sleeping in my bed since the first night I got her....have never had any problems. She loves to go under the covers and sometimes she sleeps like a person with her head on the pillow and body under the covers.

Ive got 4 dogs, a standard poodle, a german shepherd and two yorkies, the yorkies are old now and cant control their bladders so they sleep downstairs. The german shepherd will not sleep on the bed he sleeps in the hallway upstairs and the poodle does sleep in the bed and often pushes me out and i end up in the spare room, while my partner is snuggled up nice and warm.

He sleeps down the end of the bed, or on the chair in the room to start with, then by the time we wake up he's under the covers between us!!

Our Cocker Spaniel has her own bed in our bedroom. It is a folded double duvet cover and she has a pillow too. But she is not allowed on our bed just like she is not allowed on the furniture in the Living Room. She has her own cushions in the downstairs room and she is very comfy.....if she wasn't she wouldn't go onto them willingly. We have had dogs in the past that have slept on our bed but some dogs fidget terribly and having a doggy breath face close to ours was not nice!

In a crate next to the bed.
When she was 7 weeks old I had her inside the bed for the first few nights.I didn't get much sleep though as I feared I might squash her.

YES. She swears my bed is her domain. First she lays on top of the covers but then once she's ready to go to sleep she comes and pulls on the cover for me to let her in. She's a small dog (Miniature Pincher) but still moves around all over the place and stretches so I have her little feet stabbing my back, ribs, butt... Other times she gets on my pillow and rests her head on my shoulder so I feel and hear her hot breath. But her favorite place is right up against my tummy.
