I have an empty freshwater 10 gallon tank with a heater, oxygen pump, gravel and filter. I have used this tank before and have kept fancy guppies and Mickey Mouse platys. I want different fish this time, about 2-3. Any ideas?

Also, my tank has only artificial plants and a limited amount of hiding places. But if you think I should get a specific fish that requires hiding places and real plants, please tell me. Thanks =]

Remember to cycle.

Betta and five small tetras (rasboras, neons, cardinals, etc)
Dwarf Gourami and five small tetras
A pair of swordtails, mollies, platies
Betta, 3 dwarf platies
3 black skirt tetras and 3 bleeding hearts

Clown plecos stay small to help with clean up.

If you were willing to get some more decorations for your tank (especially tall plants), you could try 3-4 Dwarf Puffers. Dwarf Puffers are fully freshwater, and they are adorable little guys. At 1.5 inches, they scoot around the tank very slowly, but have tons of personality. They are very territorial, so they would really be the only fish you would want in the tank (apart from a few Oto Catfish). They only eat frozen or live food, so if you are looking for something simple, I'd suggest against these guys.

You could try a small community centering around a Betta OR a Dwarf or Sparkling Gourami... 5 small Tetras or Rasboras, 3 Kuhli Loaches or Cories, and a single Betta OR Dwarf Gourami OR Sparkling Gourami would be a lovely tank that will provide you hours of enjoyment each week. Contact me if you have any questions.

check out the link below to help you in your search for specimens that can be kept in a 10-gallon tank. You can keep up to 12 fish in a 10-gallon but you must keep the two species the same per each group.
