Does it make a difference which registry you go to or where a dog comes from?

Thanks!

Hey wussup? My cousin is going to be getting a turtle and she knows NOTHING on how to care for it. (Were going to pick it out together so she asked me to ask it on yahoo answers) Anyways, the things i really want to know are:
Where are some stores in Lombard, Illinois that carry turtles? What are the main different kinds of turtles?(Can you describe each one individually for me please, by size and personality) What kind of turtle do you recomend? Why? My cousin really wants a puny one, so what's the smallest type there is? How do you set the tank up? What kind of food do i get? Should she get a boy or girl? How much food should i give him/her? How often do you clean the tank? How do you even clean the tank? Do you buy a glass tank? How big should the tank be? Do any of them bite?Do they grow really big? What's the smallest one there is?

Share any experience you had with turtles, and any other things i would probably want to know about them. All comments are appriciated. Thanks!

My 2 Kittens have fleas. If I were to give the kittens away, how long would the fleas survive in my home without the kittens?

I am pretty sure that fleas have dropped off the kittens' backs into the cracks in my home.

It's proven difficult to keep two kittens. I just fear that the kittens even after treatment will become reinfected with the fleas, and I have a small child, and I don't want the fleas to endanger her.

I took some photo's of my cats recently. The red eye in one cat is much more prominant than my other cats eyes - in every photo! Im sure I read somewhere that a lot of read eye or no read eye can mean a medical problem??

Any info appreciated.

my new 2 year old cat is continuing to poo on the carpet in different spots throughout my small appartment. I have four litter boxes placed at most of the locations where she has gone, but she finds a new place to go on my carpet. I even changed the cat litter to a non scented and I been placing her in them. I have had her a week and when I first got her I put her in a safe room for a few days (bathroom) with food, water, sleeping area and litter box. She did go in the box in here. Im thinking because its just a small room. i been trying to keep up with the cleaning but its getting worse. tonight, i put her back in the safe room because Im not sure what to do. I adopted her to give my other cat a friend , but they do not like each other. I like her, but before I get too attached, I was thinking about returning her. Im not sure if im going to have the time to train this cat. I feel she is not happy here too. Thinking about taking her back. I will feel guilty if i end my commitment.

Around where I live there was a massive rat rescue and now they all need homes. I would love to help, but I am wary because my cat loves to kill the mice we have living around the house? Is there anyway to "break" her of this habbit or at least discourage this? I have always wanted a rat, but like I said before I never though it would work out. Any suggestions?

I currently have a 20g tank that's been set up for about 2 weeks, give or take. I've got 3 danios and 5 white clouds. My ammonia hasn't spiked yet, and I've got several other fish in a temp. 10g holding tank that I want to add to the 20g as soon as I can (well, as fast as is healthy for the biofilter).

If I were to take out the danios and white clouds and put them in temp. holding tanks as well, and then add ammonia to my 20g and do a fishless cycle, would that help the cycle go faster?

My 10-month old fox terrier is house broken but once in a while he pees at the wrong place (like on his towel or in the middle of the living room), normally it happens when we tell him "no" on sthg or when we have to keep him in the bathroom while we go out.

We have 2 views on this (1) He is throwing a tantrum, (2) He gets nervous from the scolding or leaving he just wets himself. (He normally keeps his pee pee in coz he doesn't like going into the bathroom to pee. As bathroom = lonely place). In sum, is dog capable of having tantrums or are we just portraying ourselves on them?

We let in an approx. 1-2 yr old male. His temperment is soo cool (really sleepy though). He is eating and drinking water. But, he seems to have a prob in one eye, it is partially closed and a little leaky. His tail is also curled up instead of straight! Weird? Could the eye thing hurt my other pets? I have a cat and a Lab. I can't take this cat to the vet for approx 2 wks....short on funds..

I have a German Shepard/Collie mix, Pebbles, who's also always scared.
We adopted her from a kennel, She was found in a crate with her newborn littermates. They were abandoned and starving but shouldn't have been abused being so young. I don't think this is why she's always scared unless the people in the kennel beat her while she was there.
Any time you stand over her or look her in the eyes or either use a scolding tone or a super-sweet tone, she gets scared and pees and hides and wines. We have to coax her out of hiding and don't want to scold her for the accident because she was scared and couldn't help it.
Often when we get her out of hiding, she's shaking and leans into us like she wants to hide inside of us! She'll stay like that for up to 30 minutes!!!! We try and comfort her but we're torn. We dunno if comfporting her every time she does this is only making it worse or if it's actually helping.
If she does anything wrong we are too scared to scold her!
What should we do?

Didn't have enough room to write my full question. Here it is:

If you wanted to adopt a dog (from a shelter or private rescue), how would it affect your decision to adopt it if you knew it were bred by a puppy mill? As opposed to your average purebred rescue dog that you don't know who bred it? Would knowing this about the dog affect your decision to adopt it?

There are two aspects to this that I see:
1. If it's more prone to health problems than the average dog of its breed.
2. If the rescue group in some way supported a puppy mill in "rescuing" the dog.
