Pets - 19 November 2007

Space is limited in my small apartment, so moving the litter box is not an option. I already have a covered box in a closet that I keep partially closed, but my beagles just can't seem to stay away. Any ideas???

There is a stray cat ( a family of three actually ) And this sweet one we want to take in.... Well, a couple days ago, my boyfriend saw it and it looked like it had a broken leg, i went to find it and it disappeared... we thought it had died..Well I saw it today, and it's back leg is just flopping, the poor thing... Do you imagine it is just a partial break, rather than shattered? Any tips for knowing what type of break it is? We are looking into vets to see which ones will not cost too much, hopefully we can find a generous vet...

1. they are really stupid and won't listen to me when i say i'll clean up the dog
2. they dont believe it can be trained to not pee/poo in the house
3. they dont believe in flea shots and think dogs will bite people and outdoor dogs are better (even though they bite people more)

I NEED HELP! excuses please? my parents are really... unique Oo; i need something that'll work...

i swear i try everything and have tried everything. i dont give up. but my 4 month old pitbull puppy will absolutely not potty train. if i take her outside shell sit there for hours and just wait until i bring her back in my apartment, then go on the same area of my carpet. Ive tried newspaper, i've tried rubbing her nose in it, i've tried carrying her feces outside afterwards n showing her thats where hse should go. nothing works. suggestions please. o yah, n im 5 months pregnant so this is getting a lil exhausting, plese someone i need advice. ?????

Not my whole hand but tore a hell of a lotta flesh from it.
I got like 5 piranhas and all of them are like 1.5 feet and above in length .
I wanna know if there will be any poisonous reactions caused due to this incident(because they are pretty BIG now)????

PS - If you are curious to know how my hand got eaten,ill tell you.
When I was feeding them their daily meal of 50+ guppies i accidentally put one of my hand a little too close to the water and BOOM !!!!!

So I have two kittens from the same litter. The female has gone into heat at 4 months old (way sooner than I expected) so no vets will spay her for 3 weeks when she is out of heat. I am trying to keep the male and female separated, but what if they end up mating? What are the chances that the kittens will be deformed? Also, the female is only 4 months, how will that affect her?

She is just over a year old and has had her second heat. She never had puppies. She is not fixed yet. Suddenly she is carrying around a small toy and crying all the time. She will not let the toy out of her sight. She snuggles with it and sleeps with it. The vet said there is nothing physically wrong with her. Is this normal and will it pass?

I hate to see my parents keep their Dalmation of 11 years outside. When it gets colder they keep her in a large heated building.

I have tried to convince them that she needs to come in the house to be with the family, but they say she wouldn't like it because she is use to being outside and has been for 11 years. Is this true ??????????????

She gets attention but not the attention that she deserves. Dogs long to be a companion and I just don't feel that she has been giving the life that she deserves. She and my female dog fought the last time they encountered each other, so I can't put her in at my house. Any Suggestions ??????????

This is my childhood dog and now that I have grown older I realize that she deserves better and I have cried b/c of the lack of attention i gave her when i was younger. I can't change the past, I just hope to improve what few years she has left. Do dogs remember past experiences ? I would hate for her to remember the past.

I bought 2 sister gerbils last week. Then we added a male gerbil from a different pet store about 2 days later. At first one of the females was very aggressive towards the male. She eventually just kept to herself in the "top bunk" of the cage. She seemed depressed. I closed off the top bunk and now all three are snuggling together under the wooden house. No more fighting or anything aggressive. They have a wheel, a wooden house, plenty of food, water, & bedding. The cage is 15 inches long, 12 inches high, and 10 inches wide. Do you think that's enough space for 3 gerbils or do I need a bigger cage?

He's a 2 year old Jack Russell Terrier. His skin is always red (he's almost pure white) and we can never get rid of the fleas. We have tried everything that we can think of. He's been wearing one of those cones around his neck for almost a year so he can't cause sores on his legs. He gets hives periodically. I need to find something that makes him feel better!

My pug is 9 months old. She is housebroken, and pees about 3-5 times a day. Well, lately, she is not drinking that much, but she has been peeing about 12 times a day. She has even started peeing in random places of the house...even just a few drops. I'm just concerned because its not like her. Does anyone know what this might be? Like i said, it wouldnt be as strange if she was drinking a lot of water, but shes barely drinking! Also, the vet called this morning and said she has hook worms and whip worms...would this be a cause for the pee? We took her to the vet and shes gonna stay there for a few nights so they can medicate her for the worms.

If anyone could advise me on the pee thing that would be great. Thanks in advance. Have a blessed day.

My 4 month old's ear was red on the inside and his brother and mother kept licking and cleaning it. so we went to the vet and he said it was a fungi ear infection and put him on drops for 10 days. but I was just wondering how the lil guy could have got this and if I should watch mom & brother. if they can catch it from him.
