Not my whole hand but tore a hell of a lotta flesh from it.
I got like 5 piranhas and all of them are like 1.5 feet and above in length .
I wanna know if there will be any poisonous reactions caused due to this incident(because they are pretty BIG now)????
PS - If you are curious to know how my hand got eaten,ill tell you.
When I was feeding them their daily meal of 50+ guppies i accidentally put one of my hand a little too close to the water and BOOM !!!!!

Absolute rubbish.
The worlds biggest piranha is only 5 inches long and they are not naturally aggressive.

1st of all piranhas dont get 1.5 ft.so you have pacus.trust me coz i have both species right now.been in the hobby for 8 years now.
dont worry about the bite.treat it as you would treat an ordinary would.apply an antibiotic ointment and keep the wound clean.
be careful in the future coz big pacus can take off a finger.their teeth maynot be as sharp as piranhas,but the jaws are v.strong indeed

i dont believe you have any pirhanas. but in response to others questions :
no they are not illegal. only in statws where it doesnt get cold enough to kill them if released into the wild ( southern states )
also - the worlds piggest "Piranhas" is probably a Pacu, which can get the size of a truck tire... a little bigger than 5 inches, wouldnt you say?
again, i doubt you have any piranhas 1.5 feet in lenght, let alone 1.5 inches. and i doubt they even nipped you.
piranhas are naturally shy creatures, and if they are fed well noguh every day, wont get aggressive

Actually I have seen and have had very large piranhas, no they are not poisonous, they don`t need to be with those teeth.
Keep the wound clean, it will heal.

greg, apparently you were not feeding yours enough and yes they do cannibalize, but people who know what they are, usually know to start with 10 so you`ll at least end up with 5.
I had mine for a few years and later sold them for $30.00 a piece to a Petshop.
Funny story:
I once knew a jerk that kept prank calling my job, I told a friend of his to tell him that I have a large tank of some very large piranhas and getting rid of a body would be easy. The calls stopped. ( Evil grin)

I guess I am not a kind person because my first instinct upon reading your question was- "Kill them!"
That was literally taking "Biting the hand that feeds you" to test.
After a few seconds, I decided on another answer.
They are YOUR fish. So even if they are known to eat even the hand that feeds them, it was ultimately your decision to buy them, raise them and even- horrors- cherish and aughh "love" these creatures.
Their fates are in your hands, its up to you.
Dont invite children to your place, and even adults. Some might attempt to feed them. It is dangerous.

your a full of crap you do not have 5 piranha over a foot and a half long in the same tank.
the piranha that get that big can not be kept in the same tank they would kill and eat eachother in a week flat.
the other thing big piranhas are not dumb and will not wast there time trying to go after guppies.

You're still alive and kicking that's the main thing. If you put chemical in the water...that might cause an infection. Tell the doctor about it.

Clean the wound with saline solution and then apply antibiotic ointment and cover with a large bandaid. You will live.

surely you would feed them goldfish! arent guppies tiny? and how much is it going to cost for 50+ guppies a day??
