We had a bit of a naming dilemma a few weeks ago when we bought our female kitten--we're three female college students, and she was bought for both companionship and to keep the mice at bay.

We settled on the name "Scout", because it's a) not too girly; b) a nod to Harper Lee and "To Kill a Mockingbird"; c) because of b, a girl's name; and d) because she is our mouse-scout. Everyone she meets loves her name and praises it for being clever. It's not a name you see a lot for kittens, but it fits her perfectly.

Now, I'm not saying to choose that name (especially if you're not a Mockingbird fan) but I would try to choose a name that fits your cat (we didn't pick Scout's name until she came home) and is something you won't feel silly saying (our friends named their kitten Nefertiti--I won't comment).

Good luck!

Get her shots and tags that tell the world where she lives, that she is loved and has an owner who cares about her. When she is old enough, you vet will tell you, have her spayed so she doesn't have more kittens. Unless you bought a pure bred and plan to sell the kittens, having your cat spayed is a responsible and humane action for your cat. Believe me, when they go into heat, it's not pretty. Best wishes and enjoy your kitten. They make wonderful pets, their just so independent yet loving. Quite a revelation for a woman who once didn't care for cats. I was all about dogs. Now, I have two cats and am enjoying every moment with them!

purrrcey. As in Percy, but with an emphasis on the Purrrr. And just in time for Christmas for that song, "Percy the puny Pointsetta."
Or you can even name is Pointsetta and call it Setta for short.

Or Chrissy, short for christmas. Remember how Chrissy's name on three's company was actually Christmas? If it's white, you can even go the full three's company route and name it Chrissy snow.

Well, I majored in History in college, with an emphasis in Ancient Egyptian history, so I love the more obscure names like:

Isis - Egyptian Goddess
Nefertiti - Pharaoh's queen
Sheba - queen of neighboring land

I would've name my three girl cats these names but my boyfriend wanted more traditional names so we went in a different direction:

Elliott - white kitty
Earl Grey - gray kitty
Eloise - black kitty

Yes! I know two of them sound like boy's names, but that's what we ended up with. People always seem to like that we named one of them Eloise. :)

I have 7 cats, 4 boys and 3 girls.
Sassafrass
(I just loved the name.)
Mau Mommi
(Comes to mau [meow] and was a great mommy)
Marbles J. Harvey
(2 face from batman. half is peach half is black.)
and our old tabby was
Sarday
(like the singer)

If your wondering, the boys are
Dakota
(my baby cousin changed it to Koka when she was 2 and now he won't come to any thing else.)
Tom
(Tom and Jerry. The only diff. is my Tom's tail is crooked. he was born that way and the vet said it's less painful than amputating it.)
Munchkin
(he was the runt and his tail is like 3 inches long.)
Dartanion
(Yes like from the 3 musketeers, and I'm not sure if it's spelled right. he has a dark brown almost black mask.

Nobody can choose a name for your kitty, it goes with their colour, personality and how she is.. you have to get to know your kitty and a name will come to you. If your cat is going to be an outside puss, just think about what you are calling when you want her to come in for dinner...

I have 2 cats..Bagheera and Cleo. Bagheera is black and Cleo is a calico. We also have kittens...Squeaker, shadow, Sugar, and Butch. The names fit their looks and personalities.
There are alot of traditional cat names, but you can use people names too. Hope this helps.
