Ok so my 3 year old pitbull terrior jack has a new friend apparently. I just got home from work and when I opened the back door to let him in for the night another dog i think it's a german sherpard pops up behind him and scares the crap out of me! This german shepard is a boy, and him and Jack seemed to be getting along fine...i've been at work all day and so i dont know how much time theyve spent together already...any ways the new dog the german shepard looks like an adult kinda and i thought that with boy dogs u couldnt just put them together because of the territorial issue so why are they not fighting? And also i caught the shepard trying to have sex with jack from the back like what guy dogs do to the *****..and Jack acted like he didn't even mind..Is there such a thing as a gay dog? Are these two going to have homosexual territorial problems later on? Im being 100% serious with my question..any help or advice etc is greatly appreciated..
thank u confused dog owner

its possible to have 2 boys get along. Its ussually unneutered, dominant males who will fight.
No, the dogs are not gay, and are not trying to have sex with each other. This is a dominancy thing. The Shepherd is trying to display dominance over Jack.. apparanly Jack is submissive and is accepting it. If they were to be together for a few weeks, the humping would eventually stop once their heirarchy is established.
If this guy is neutered, he may have an owner who is looking for him.. check the papers and your shelter. You can ussually put up a found ad for free in the paper.

dogs are not homosexual. the humping is a dominance thing. you need to see if you can find the other dog's owner. if not and you wish to keep the other dog and can afford to do so, time and money wise then go ahead. if both dogs are neutered, and it's easy to check on the other dog, just look for testicles. if there are none he's probably neutered. but you'll need to take him for a vet check soon if you can't find an owner and plan to keep him and they hopefully will be able to tell you if he's neutered or a cryptorchid. where 1 or both testicles is retained and doesn't drop. 2 male dogs can live and get along just fine. as long as both dogs are properly exercised with walks and mentally stimulated. if they are both kept healthy with vet visits, etc...if you catch the other dog trying to mount your dog and you feel comfortable approaching him tell him no and make him get off and sit down. let him know this behavior is not allowed. but since you do not know this dog or his behaviors just yet do not put yourself in what could be a dangerous situation with a dog you know nothing about.

It's not a sexual behaviour, it's a dominance thing.. If both males are neutered, it's possible that they'll be fine together. I would discourage the shepherd from mounting your pit bull tho.. Could turn into a fight eventually..
No such thing as a gay dog.

two male dogs humping is a sign of who is dominate. apparently the german shepherd is the dominate one. which is probably why your dog is letting the GS in his territory. something happened between the two while you were gone to let them decide whos the dominate one.

It is possible that the other dog is showing his dominance over yours. That is how dogs show that in their world. If your dog is laid back, and doesn't mind being dominated then the combo will work out, and so it seems it already has.

Yah understand my sighthound club attempted a marvel collar (after checking out it on one yet another) on a "fouling" whippet who stricken the dogs he became into working with - the dogs, while a great deal shocked, blamed the dogs he became into pounding on & redoubled his efforts to pound the different dogs into the floor...- wager coco will think of an identical of the cats of direction the #one million blunders became into letting coco see the cats run.... in case you may manover a cat into giving coco a stable raking it might help... different than that positioned the CATS in the cage & coco out so she does not see them RUN and it gonna take MONTHS and he would on no account be totally good

first I have had males together in my house with no problem.
as far as the humping it's a dominance thing.
When it happens tell the shep. no and make him get off he can be trained not to do this.
