I gave my 6mnth old puppy frontline top spot for up to 22lbs (she's 18 lbs) from my vet, I gave it to her the 1st of this month and since then found 2 ticks on her. Should I give more or call vet about it or buy something else over the counter?
This one was right between her eyes and left black bumps(I hope dried blood, I checked and i got out all the legs) and a big red spot
Thanks

I have used the Hartz 3 in 1 Kills Fleas and ticks on contact and Kills Fleas Eggs. But I have sprayed and nothing is working. The first time I used it months ago I noticed that it worked but a few days ago I used it again and still after 2-3 days nothing has happened and we are still noticing fleas and getting bite by them and my daughter is scratching and making soars on her legs and I am trying to find something that will not cost arms and legs to get to kill the fleas and their babies/eggs. I have my dog outside now cause she was put inside and then she was in heat so I had to put her outside cause I did not want to continue cleaning up her drippings. So could someone tell me what I can use that is not smelly and highly chemical smelling cause I am allergic to heavy bug sprays or any sprays that have that posion or smell to them. I need something that is odorless if possible. Or something that will work without having to bomb the house. PLEASE HELP we are tired of being ate.

My kitten Willie escaped and was gone all night. Allie (my avatar) missed him and cried and hunted him-they've been together since 5 weeks old. They always play with straws so she got one in her mouth and was running through the house meowing for him to come chase her. It was so sad and sweet! She was really happy the next morning when he came home! Has your cat done that before?

How do you feel about de-clawing a cat?
My dad said it's like cutting you finger nails, only it's a cat's nail. But alot of people I know including one of my old neighboors say it is very mean to do that to your cat. Someone else told me it is like rmoving the first knuckle off of your finger.

What does de-clawing really do?

I have a 3 month old chi who doesn't catch on to potty training. Anyone have any stories how they trained theirs and how long it took? He tears up pee pads, someone said do litter but he eats it and vet said that isn't healthy. I'm at a loss, he will go outside occasionally but not if it is cold or raining. Help

Ginger, My 3 year old retriever is seemingly a healthy and happy dog. She's always full of energy and loves to play kong with me any chance she gets. However, I have always noticed her tendency to move very slowly when taking big steps up (i.e. coming up on a bed or a couch, getting into the car. She doesn't have a problem with stairs though and runs up them at the speed of light) when she takes her time I can see her back legs quiver a little bit. This has been happening since I got her when she was 2 months old. I was wondering if anyone could help me with this: is it that she is just being cautious or is this a preview of a problem to come? Is there anything I can do to help my best fuzzy friend?

Thanks to anyone who offers me some help

My dog is "talking" back to me lately when he is being disciplined or when I give him a command such as sit or stay. It is a whine and a grunting sound. I have tried the "no speak" command it works for about four seconds and then he starts back up with the whining, moaning or grunting sounds. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to get him to stop talking back to me? Anything will help. Thanks

I started keeping my dogs in the garage overnight but when I check on them in the morning my garage is "re-arranged". They chew stuff of the shelves and tear it apart. They have dog door and can go out anytime. I was gonna start putting muzzles on them overnight but I am not sure if it is safe to keep them on overnight unattended. Does it affect their breathing or anything like that? Thanks for help

When should I begin defense training on my Rottweiler. She is 6 months and has the obedience training down well. She is house broken knows sit, paw, laydown, and stay. I was wondering when is she old enough to teach to protect my house. And what should I do to get her trained? Any Ideas?

BTW... is guarddog training the same as Defense training?

When did your Newfie start to drool?

A owner came into our office with a Newfoundland puppy (8 weeks) today and I overheard her telling other owners how he is dry mouthed? When do they start to drool? At what age?

Just curious! Thanks!

My girlfriend wanted to buy two pet rats a few months ago and turns out shes allergic to them and her reactions are getting progressively worse. Where can these rats find a proper home? We don't know anyone personally that wants them.
Does the humane society take them?

I have a 4-year-old cat who is usually active, i.e. jumping on the fridge and table, running towards to the screen door to get a "taste"of the outdoors. However, for the past week-and-a-half, he's been acting much lazier than usual. He has resorted to sleeping or laying down for most of the day. He does not meow as much either. This has never happened before.

What could be bothering him? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

My cat is not your average everyday ordinary cat. He is very smart but I need to get him to take his medication. I have tried cutting it up and sticking it betwen pieces of his favorite cat food. He ate everything except for the parts with the pill pieces inside. I have also tried pounding it into a powder and lacing his food with it. He took a sniff and walked away. I do not want to force it down his throat. He HATES it when he feels trapped at all and will fight. Does anyone have any suggestions? The pill is about the size of an asprin.

When filling out "name" section of the AKC registration form, are you supposed to include the dog's last name?

Or is that assumed since we are giving our last name in another section of the form? If we only include the first name (Charley), will that be the only name that shows up on the registration? We want his full name to be there I think.

I've looked at the AKC site ( http://www.akc.org/reg/namingofdog.cfm), but don't see anything there. Hopefully someone who's been through this can help.

Also, any good middle name ideas for Charley? He's a boy.

Thanks!

I keep my 5 month puppy in a corridor most of the day. I let her out at least two times a day to run around the yard, but at night, and while i'm at work she's in the corridor. It's about 3 by 20 feet. She's there because the yard isn't 'ready' for her. There are yet adjustments to be made.
Do you think it's too small or cruel in any way to keep her in there? She has toys, water, food, she gets sun, but there is always shade too, and a kind of litter box which is her official 'bathroom'.
I ask cause my bf is always making a fuss about her being 'jailed' there. That how would i like it if i were confined to a small space like that? I think she's ok there for now... it's like her crate. I think. Am i wrong?

I'm going to have a few of these questions because I need about 100 dogs and their heart rates(just use your hand). I'm going to do some myself but theres no way I can get 100 unless I get some help so thank you! I would also need their height from their withers or shoulders down and if possible, their weight and breed. Once again, THANK YOU!!!!! (and for people who've seen this a million times, sry)

i need the height, breed, and heart rate of dogs for my science fair project. we have this thing called science investgations where if we pass the class we go to biology next year so the projects are for a grade for us and apparently, the "magic number" (amount of data needed) is 100. it would really help if you helped out.

to measure heart rates of dogs, you find the area between their 2 forelegs and count the number of beats in 15 seconds *4 or in a minute.

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!
