I gave my 6mnth old puppy frontline top spot for up to 22lbs (she's 18 lbs) from my vet, I gave it to her the 1st of this month and since then found 2 ticks on her. Should I give more or call vet about it or buy something else over the counter?
This one was right between her eyes and left black bumps(I hope dried blood, I checked and i got out all the legs) and a big red spot
Thanks

ty all for your help (i dont know why some thumbs downing ppl.....). I didnt know it wasn't a preventative I thought maybe it just hadnt worked. The tea tree oil is a good idea too for the collar sounds safer than a more chemically collar

Do not apply more until a month has gone by.
Frontline does not really prevent ticks but will kill ones that dig in on your pet.
I use it and I still find ticks on the dogs at times. Most are dead or dying. Sometimes I find dead ones on the floor.
Checking and removing them is still necessary even when using any of the monthly spot on treatments.

don't give her anymore than the normal dose, those products are in actual fact poison so the dosis has to be right. In my area (east coast of Australia) we have a tick called paralysis tick on top of all the other common ticks so you gotta be super careful. When I first got my dog, the vet advised me against topical application of ticks control (like Frontline or Advantix) and the reason for that is that it is only effective against the paralysis tick for 2 weeks. Instead of that, I treat her with Advocate which is for everything from fleas to heartworm, gastro worms, ear mite, lice etc. I use a special tick collar called Kiltix which is effective against paralysis tick for up to 6 months. The key is that it prevents the tick but is not 100% guaranteed so I still check her daily for ticks during the summer season (which is now for us) between her toes, head, ears, lips, armpits, anal region, under her tail etc. Fingers crossed but so far I haven't found any.

Frontline is a fabulous prodcut but it falls a little short in the tick dept. I would suggest something called a Preventic Collar.
Flea collars DO NOT WORK. But the preventic collar is different in that it works kinda like the frontline and they can be used together. Ask you vet. I think that it may be the answer that you seek.
Good Luck!

Frontline will not stop fleas getting on the puppy; but they will die as soon as they bite. Because the fleas will die, they do not have time to create babies. But it is recommended to use for 3 months so all 'loose' fleas have the chance to get their just dues. Do not give puppy a bath or it will wash off the newly started 'treatment' and you will have to wait 2 days before starting over.

You need flea control for carpet and furniture (under & around couch cushions are big hiding spots for them). Allow time for the Frontline to work. Don't add more and DO NOT add any additional medicine - - can cause a made skin reaction.

Do not give her more! You could seriously hurt her.
More and more people are complaining of this. Partly it has to do with weather and also with the parasites getting used to the toxins. A flea comb and soapy baths are still the best defense against parasites.
....But, I have to ask, how long had the ticks been on her? Frontline is not a repellent. It is a poison. They may not have been dead yet. If a repellent is what you want, try good old Tea Tree Oil. It is fan-frick'n-tasic! I use it on myself and my family when we camp in the woods. It is like magic. (Do not use it on your cats though.) It has a heavy, woody smell. It tingles a little. Put a little on her collar, ot make a suspension ans spray it on her fur. Keep it out of her eyes and away from her poo-hole. :)

No matter what product you use you can still see fleas or ticks on your pet..this doesn't mean it isn't working..Any fleas or ticks that get on your pet will die and the cycle will be broken.
Do NOT use any OTC products..they are ineffective and they can be very dangerous. stick with the safer, effective products from your vet.

I also recommend using Frontline Plus instead of regular Frontline.

Frontline Plus is a little better of a product. also frontline is not a repellent. The tick must ingest the product before being killed

She may have just brought in more from outside..Be sure you treat your yard also..If u find another tick just put a drop of Dawn Dish soap on it..it will die in 5 mins then remove the tick and clean with soft wet rag.

Did you put it on right? You part the fur out like a line on a person's head, and then you place the Frontline Plus on the skin. You shouldn't wash her after you apply it either. You need to let it absorb.

I use Advantix I like it and it keeps ticks and fleas off the dog. Some of those products only work on fleas. Sounds like Frontline is one of them.
