My kitten is obsessed with straws. I give her a few and she plays with them then jumps up on top of the fridge where I keep the bag of straws and gets a few more out. She just drops them to the floor. There are 9 straws in the floor right now! It's really cute but weird that she's not happy with just a couple or that she doesn't just knock the whole bag down! Aren't cats adorable!

We have had him for 3 days. He was active until he vomited and now he's sleeping.

We have two ferrets, both were fully litter trained when we bought them. The male always uses the litter box, the female will 90% of the time. She will deficate in the one of two corners in the living room periodically. She's annoyed at something, but I haven't been able to find out what. She will use the litter box (we used the same litter she was trained on) and will than romp for about five minutes and than she'll run to the corner to deficate. If we catch her and put her in the litter box she makes a show of going and than attempts to return to the corner. She doesn't always do this and it's sometimes weeks in between happenings. There haven't been any major changes in the environment, food or water. Any ideas? Or any ideas where I could get a look into the crazy pet's mind?

She is mostly going to be an outside cat. But she will be indoors at night. We live on a ranch with only a barb wire fence and hog wire separating us from the rest of our ranch. I just want her to stay in our yard. What should I do to teach her to stay?

Its been about a year since I've established my tank. From last month, I've gotten an algae bloom. I noticed that during the day, a ray of sunlight shines as if swiping the whole tank as the sun rises. I tried using chemical liquids to get rid of it but, kept on coming back. I want to put nice decors in but they all turn out to be stained with algae... =( My guess is to put a cover around the tank to block any sunlight. But, im wondering how other people get their tank to be so crystal clear w.o algae

My cat sometimes goes outside for a little while and he loves going outside. He ran about the door about 5 hours ago and I can't find him. I looked everywhere for him. He's spaded and has all his shots btw. The longest my cat had been out for is overnight. What should I do?

It's too late to have anything done. Im just wondering what her chances of surviving this are. I plan on calling the vet tommorow, but I though someone might have been through something similar. The way I figure it she has 1-2 weeks left.

Yeah, I did what I gripe about. Oops. Sorry:(
Anyway, I went to the LFS to get some treatment for my tank with ich, and while perusing saw the cutest teeny tiny Yo Yo loach. The LFS here (its the only LFS here) is tiny and they hardly ever have any kind of loach, let alone a cute little one like a yoyo....so....I got it:P

I put it in my tank and he seems to be doing fine (he's in the tank that *doesnt* have ich! I promse! Im not that reckless!) But is there anything I need to know? The LFS said having just one is fine, but now Im finding sites that say they need to be in groups like clowns. Do I need to go see if I can snag their last yoyo so I can have 2?

Any help you can offer me on this loach would help.

BTW: he's in a 28 gallon lightly planted tank with several mollies and platies (about a dozen or so total) and a 4-5in pleco.

Okay, so I found a tick on my dog and I have removed many before this one so I knew what to do. But this time the head broke off. Now I have heard many opinions of what of to do in this case. But I wanted to make sure once again what's best to do in this situation. Is it best to leave the head in and wait for it to fall off by itself? I know that if I try to get it out myself I will make it worse so I have not touched it.

Any opinions or suggestions?

Now I have preserved the tick in a little container, but a strange thing is happening, the tick is still moving its legs even though it does not have a head. It has been around day since I removed it from my dog. Is this normal, that it's still moving?

5 mo. house trained Havanese. It took about 2 mo. for her to not cry & learn to be kennel trained for sleeping at my house- she's an angel there now.
When I go to my BFs, she LITERALLY SCREAMS when we put her in her kennel at night. I bring the same 1 she uses from home to BF's place. I'm at his home 2 weekends/month for 1-2 nights. His bedroom is upstairs & we put her in the 1st fl. dining room. B/c we have allergies/asthma, she can't sleep in our bed. I would also prefer that she/the kennel weren't in the bedroom at night so we have1 safe-zone. Also, it doesn't seem worth it since during the 1st wks I put her/ the kennel in my bedroom at night and she still cried, so I moved her to another room in the apt and ignored the cries (unless I thought something was wrong).
I think she might be a crier in general - if she's not in the same room as me, she cries/screams but doesn't destroy things-but not at night in kennel anymore.
Any suggestions? PLS HELP me make my pup&BF happy!

I have a 10.5 week old Westie who bites constantly! You can tell it's in a playful rather than "vicious" manner but I don't want him to continue this inappropriate behavior, plus those little puppy teeth are pretty strong! I have tried everything suggested in my puppy books and from online research (Bitter Apple spray--he just licks it and continues biting, gentle tap on the nose while saying "No bite!", replacing whatever he's biting with an appropriate toy, ignoring him, etc.). I am trying very hard to be patient but I'm becoming so frustrated! A fellow Westie owner and friend of mine told me nothing worked for her but he eventually outgrew this stage when his adult teeth come in.

Any other suggestions, advice, or similar stories? :-)

I have a 30 gallon tank, with two african cichlids. One is a sunshine peakock, and another is a yellow lab. Each of them are about 4-5 inches long, and the yellow lab is acting strange. Like it won't eat, and I notice below the mouth there is a lump thing, as if it has something big in it's mouth. The other cichlid is acting perfectly fine. Thank you for helping.

If an adult cat is alone in a room, will it start pouncing, hunting its toys, etc, or is this behaviour for our benefit? Obviously, a mother cat will teach her kits to hunt through play, but I was just watching the cat flip out around the living room, and started wondering if she would do that if I wasn't sitting here.

Is this a hard business to get into? I am not interested in showing, simply breeding and rescuing dogs and cats. Any advice? Should this only be a hobby, and should I look into certain college classes to get started? Is it expensive to start?

Im in the process of persuing my vet about mis-treating my puppy for parvo and she died. i have a appt for a meeting with thtem tomorrow and im not sure how to handle it. they initally defended themselves 2wks ago when my vet accused them of mal-practice and they claimed "the vets forgot to write down sundays treatment but they were doing it now" 2WEEKS LATER! the dr thats been talking to me isnt even the dr who treated her but he finally decided to have a sit down with us after his office manager mentioned i called for their licence number for the paper work to file a complaint with the fl dept of prof.a nd business regualtions. im waiting for my lawyer to call em back, hopefully by tomorrow and im lost completly. yes we dont want this to happen to another family and yes compensation would be nice (we paid for parvo treatment) but charlie was only 11 wks old, she didnt deserve to asperate in her vomit and go into respertaory arrest at a sysposid 24 hour clinic (in the mid-morning with
