Im in the process of persuing my vet about mis-treating my puppy for parvo and she died. i have a appt for a meeting with thtem tomorrow and im not sure how to handle it. they initally defended themselves 2wks ago when my vet accused them of mal-practice and they claimed "the vets forgot to write down sundays treatment but they were doing it now" 2WEEKS LATER! the dr thats been talking to me isnt even the dr who treated her but he finally decided to have a sit down with us after his office manager mentioned i called for their licence number for the paper work to file a complaint with the fl dept of prof.a nd business regualtions. im waiting for my lawyer to call em back, hopefully by tomorrow and im lost completly. yes we dont want this to happen to another family and yes compensation would be nice (we paid for parvo treatment) but charlie was only 11 wks old, she didnt deserve to asperate in her vomit and go into respertaory arrest at a sysposid 24 hour clinic (in the mid-morning with

Don't settle. Take them for everything you can get. The fact that they didn't write down the treatment when Parvo is a very serious issue. It's malpractice and you need to calmly tell them that your dog should not have died from aspiration of it's own vomit. Parvo is not genetically passed, it's a disease that is curable IF caught in time AND treated correctly. They failed to provide proper treatment. Sit down and write down what you think you need to tell them, make sure it's civilized and have your lawyer proof it if possible.

They were incompetent and as a result your dog died. That is rough. I would not want to pay for the treatment that was administered improperly but that would be the extent of it. Parvo is a deadly, highly infectious disease.
They tried to save your pup. The parvo won out. The person who sold you the dog is just as responsible. You should be able to get your money back from them if you took it to the vet in a timely manner.
Suing people, especially doctors, is not an admirable exercise.exercise

I hope it wasn't a Banfield Pet Clinic because you might not get anywhere. I almost lost a pet to those killers and I have read about many incidents similar that happened all over the U.S. I wish you Good Luck, neglect is NOT an excuse.

I wouldn't be rude, but just very assertive and insist that you were wronged and if they don't somehow attempt to make this right, you will be seeking legal action.
If your attorney is going to be there, I would let him/her do most of the talking, but if it is just you, just be very calm, but strong. If they say that they did nothing wrong, just keep telling them that you have proof to the contrary.
Good Luck!
